       Question about RC Mauser stocks
       By: adena43 Date: May 5, 2014, 9:31 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
My DOU45 and my BYF43 Mausers (RC) both have what I guess are
late war stocks. They do not have the takedown discs or a place
for them. I can see the DOU45 having this as it is a late war
rifle. I guess they were in a wild hurry to get as many rifles
as possible out to the front. What I am not sure about is why
the BYF43 would have a late war stock? Maybe the original was
busted up and had to be replaced? Anybody have any ideas? The
BYF43 has shellac slathered all over the stock. It is almost
black. Sometimes I think about getting anoother stock with
takedown disc, but I think that would take away from the history
       of this rifle.

If the RC mausers are anything like the refurbed mosins, the
stocks, along with the various metal parts, could have come
from any other rifle being refurbed at the same time.

The BYF 43 stock most likely came off another rifle during the
refurb process. I am assuming that the RC K-98's would undergo
an identical process as Mosin's since the same people where
       doing it.

Thanks for the replies! There's no telling what this rifle has
       seen.

Welcome to the forums! The RC Mausers did basically go through
the same refurbishment as the Mosins. They are what they are.
Not to much value with most Mauser collectors (they are a little
more hardcore about being all original as manufactured than most
Mosin collectors), but they are military Mausers none the less.
