       40 S&W m1911?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can an m1911 be
chambered to take .40 S&W? If so how many rounds would it have
in a standard 7rd magazine? All input appreciated!

Yeah man, they make almost every firearm in every caliber
imagined. A lot of people like the style of the 1911 but can't
       handle the .45. (then don't get a freaking 1911). There's been
9mm 1911's (again, buy a Spanish Star B if you want that) so
yeah, probably. People are all of a sudden interested in
firearms so if you can think of it, it's probably already been
       done. Why? You want one?

No just curious, I heard that a .357 sig can go into any handgun
       that can handle a .40 S&W, so would a .357 sig m1911 be a good
idea. I mean with a full size frame and what not, would a .357
sig fit into a m1911 magazine or would there have to be a bigger
magazine? Sorry if I'm getting a little creative here.

I don't know about that. I also don't know why the hell you'd
want .357 sig rounds. They're expensive and hard to find.

.45 acp on an all steel gun is actually pleasant and a blast. I
       love my 1911s.

What spax said. I think the Sig Sauer .40 cals can be converted
to .357 sig with just changing the barrel. They use the same
magazine, but the capacity changes. In which way I don't
recall, but I can find out if you want. It is incredibly
expensive right now anyhow, and .40 is cheaper and widely
available around here at least. In 6 years when you can buy a
handgun your taste, ammo availability, and popular models will
have changed 30 times anyhow. That said when you do get one get
       a good 1911 in .45 auto.
