       What happened to submachine guns?

       Why are no subguns in use by our armed forces? Why do we have
       5.56 carbines for urban combat/general use instead of submachine
       guns? I would say that an H&K MP-5 chambered in 45ACP would be a
       better urban weapon than an M4 carbine, so why do we not use
       subguns anymore considering all of the urban area we have been
       fighting in?

       Because it makes sense to use SMG's?
       But best guess is because we're no always in urban and need a
       weapon that shoots farther than CQC
