       My BCD is flat-lined

Damnit all anyways. I took her out to the range today and the
muzzle wear is so bad I hit one out of 15 rounds at 25 yards.
They are just flying everywhere. Guess this will be my blank
firing reenacting gun (If I ever get into it) and a wall hanger.
Makes me sad. Someday maybe I'll re-barrel it, but for now, it's
pretty worthless as far as a shooter.

That sucks Mike, It sounds like it would make a nice "field
beater" for reenacting. Trust me you don't want a nice one in
the field, they get dinged up easily in the back of half-tracks
and kubelwagens as well as off tree branches and shit.

Yep that's what I'm going to keep it as. I tried with 45 rounds
and hit three out of 45. I tried everything to rule out shooter
error and concluded it's indeed the rifle. Oh well though, then
I can let my 42 rest if I ever start reenacting.
Time to post a thread in re-enacting.

Is the whole bore kaput or could a counterbore/recrown help
       some?
       [/quote]
Counterbore is needed. The rest of the bore is fine as far as I
can see. There's a little crud in the grooves but nothing any
worse than a Mosin or other K98. Know anyone/place that will
counterbore this thing without costing me an arm and a leg?

I don't know ,Mike, you should ship that sucker to me. You were
just a Infantry type with two years in, you probably don't know
anything about how to accurately fire a weapon. If you're lucky
I might teach you a thing or two. ;D

My mistake, I was thinking of the old man. He was only in two
years. Still, that isn't long at all. Why didn't you go for 26?

Because I wanted to do something actually productive.

Is it small or large ring? Might be able to get a new barrel,
and are you sure it needs a counterbore? Couldn't you just
       re-crown it?

It's a super small ring Kar98, so rare, PGA even envies me. Yes,
I'm sure it needs a counter bore, and, if I'm not mistaken,
re-crowning and counter boring are the same.
