Do you still have your first Mosin?

Hashash and I were talking about making a separate "post a pic
of your first Mosin" Thread. I may start it later today after
taking a few shots. Maybe then I'll get my photography badge.
I still have mine. Its a 1939 Tula 91/30 refurb. Paid 70 bucks
for it and it started the obsession.

Sure wish I had mine. Got it in '92, Westinghouse m91with lots
of the US eagle acceptance stamps. I remember the X2, X4 etc
stamps with the stylized eagle heads. Complete, well used
non-bubba. Went out and fired it, when it keyholed I took it
back. It was well under $100 but I can't remember how much. Ugh.
I dont worry about bore on uncommon ones any more.

Yes, '42 izhevesk refurb. I remember going to dunhams
And picking it out of the group. Only thing not "matching" is a
       Tula hammer stamped bolt connector.

       [/quote]Damn! What a bummer. I'd love to have a keyholing M91
with US acceptance stamps. I'm glad you learned this lesson so
I didn't have to though. Have any old pics for the next thread
       by chance?

No pics except the barrel markings etched in my mind. It took a
while to realize they were eagles.

Mine is nothing special. It's a 42 Izhevsk 91/30, but it has the
best bore of any Mosin I have owned. It is my main shooter.
Stamp matched, no line outs or EP's, and matching bayonet. I
have never photographed it because it is nothing really
interesting at all, but I like it just the same (just because it
was my first). I really didn't start getting into Milsurp until
6 or 7 years ago. It kind of stemmed from a Waffen stamped
Walther PPK my dad picked up a while back. I picked up that
first Mosin at Cabela's and have been studying them ever since.

I still have mine too. A 37 or 38 Izhevsk, I would have to look
       through them to remember.

My first was a 1925 Izhevsk Ex-Dragoon. Back when they were 79
bucks from AIM. Bought it when I was still in the sandbox and
picked it up after I got home. At one point as a stupid 20 year
old, I sanded the stock (a post war replacement) and stained it.
Since then I put a pine tar/turpentine finish on it and she
looks great. An accurate sumbitch too. Still have it sitting
right here next to the computer.
