mosin prototype or competing design?

Found this link. I don't know much about it so I don't known of
its an actual prototype or a competing design. Interesting
though. I see it has a finger rest like the early m91s.

It says it is an 1889 Nagant prototype. I'm thinking that is the
prototype rifle that Leon Nagant presented for trial when Sergei
Mosin presented his design? The trials were in 1889. The
magazine looks similar to an M91, and I have read the Russians
did modify Nagant's design to work with Mosin's rifle. The bolt
looks like it was taken from a Berdan.

That's exactly what I thought about the bolt, berdan looking.
Nagant put out a rifle that was similar in 1887 also, It looks
close to the 1889 except for the bolt. It had the same looking
magazine though.

Awsome, thanks for sharing! I like how they have the side by
side comparison photos with the prototype(?)design and a mosin
as we know it so you can see the basic similarities and
differences.

Russian is my third language and I'm a bit rusty but it reads to
me as the Nagant prototype being compared to the Mosin
prototype.
