Just left the scrap yard, dropped off some aluminum. Owner had
two charred barrelled receivers leaning against the wall by the
scale. I was thinking 'house fire', but he said an old guy said
the bores were shot out and no one would want junkers like that.
He burned the stocks off and scrapped the metal parts. One is a
mauser of some kind, the other is an 1899 Sestroryetsk m91.
Totally destroyed. The m91s barrel is even bent from a washer
being dropped on it in the scrap hopper. FUCKING REDICULOUS

I die inside a little bit more when I see rare Mosins bubba'd,
but at least they are being used in some sort. Maybe not as
beautiful as before being molested but that is just a total
fucking loss. I became quite exasperated after reading this, the
amount of ignorance and disrespect to "cheap russian junk" is
appalling and angering.

Sad thing is most collectors wouldn't give a rats ass if they
were shot out. What an idiot. He just threw away probably $800
or so in rifles for pennies at the scrap yard.

Yeah, it all depends on what kind of Mauser it was too. It also
depends on if the stocks had been cut down to a sporter or not.
No matter what though, it is a shame.
