Once again, doesn't really matter. It's more of the bullet
weight that makes a difference to me. My M39 really likes that
heavy ball 182 grain, so do a few of my 91/30's. The rest do
better with the LPS. To be totally honest, I've never shot brass
cased through a Mosin Rifle. Maybe someday, but for now I've got
enough 54r stashed away that buying brass cased would be sort of
pointless. If I want soft tip ammo I just cast bullets and use
those.
Some people swear by brass cases and that's all they use, I'm
not too picky.

I shoot whats most consistent in which ever rifle, be it brass
case or steel. The only one of mine that gets a steady diet of
brass is my M28-30 and that take reloads due to its bore
diameter.

Every once in a while I treat my m91/30 with some Albanian x54r
to get rid of soot in the chamber. But I mainly use steel case.
