       1955 No4 Mk2 question
       By: CLMI04 Date: December 15, 2013, 9:13 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I just received a UF prefix 1955 No4 Mk2 Lee Enfield in trade
for the PL M39 I had. It's in NOS condition with cosmoline still
in the nooks and crannies with NOS bayonet and scabbard. The
previous owner said he never fired it and he said the guy before
him took it out of the mummy wrap and supposedly never fired it
either. Well my question is if it was your rifle would you fire
it? The No4 Mk2's are supposed to be the most accurate of the
Enfields and a joy to shoot. I'm just worried about decreasing
the value unnecessarily as they normally go for around
$600-$700. This is my first true "safe queen" candidate and want
opinions. I'll post pics after I'm done getting mentally raped
       by finals week.

That's a toughie. I've only owned one vintage unfired firearm an
the temptation was overwhelming. Before I could make up my mindI
was made an offer I ccouldn't pass up.
If yours was still in the wrap I definitely wouldn't. Opened
like yours I probably would have to shoot it but thats me. What
       that would do value-wise I can't say.

       I ended up trading the No4 Mk2 for a Bulgarian AK-74 with 2
surplus mags and bayonet a few days ago. I figure I won't have
any qualms about shooting that or getting it scratched/dinged
up. Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks, hopefully I'll have some money left over after Christmas
to buy a spam can of 5.45 and break the thing in.
