How do you feel about Bannerman Conversions to 06'?
By: mat!_SW Date: December 4, 2013, 7:21 pm

Found what may be a really cool one I'm thinking about taking a
stab at if the price is right. Anyone have anything to add to
the info on mosinnagant.net? Does Teds site have anything
written up about them, or does he consider them bubba? I missed
out on a sporter version several years ago. It was a Remington
sporter for 70 bucks. Wish I knew as much then as I do now.
Just goes to show that you have to arm yourself with knowledge
when getting into this stuff.

They are bubba (to me) but may still have value. Depends on who
you talk to. I personaly would look it over a lot before
shooting. I think the military version looks a thousand times
better but I also wouldn't pay real money for one either.

[/quote]The one I'm interested in is not a sporter and has US
property marks, so I'm ok with it as long as it doesn't get
crazy pricey.

I found one in original military configuration with handguard
etc, beyond my price range. Ted bought it. It seems those
versions may have been done with an eye towards military or
export sales but it never happened. Fell into another one
locally but wasn't able to get it.
I like those versions, the sporters not so much. But if I found
a cheap local sporter I may buy it as a shooter with reduced
loads.

You are braver then me Dave!! Of course I still have a pretty
large pile to get to that have not been shot. Still trying to
work out a informal range.

With six days left its now going for more than I'm willing to
spend on one this time of year when I'm off work. I'll put up
the link if you guys are feeling saucy. I think this one may
top 500. Its alerady at 290 if you count shipping. That's a
lot of dough for a rifle I would have no plans to shoot.

A true Bannerman is collectible in it's own right. They aren't
so much a bubba job as the rifles he converted were factory new
rifles. They never had any military history. Ted will allow true
Bannerman conversions to be shown and discussed on his forum
also as they are part of the history of the Mosin Nagant.
