One of my all time favorite rifles and favorite Russian/spanish
;D
Latest dragoon I have seen although I hear there are 32s around.
I missed out on a grey blanket special 31 Izhevsk to match this
:'(

:o desdem- I missed this post because its posted in the
general forum and not the sub-board for mosins. Great rifle!
Is that a refinished stock/has it been sanded? Its an odd
color. The Spanish cobbled together a 91/30 front sight and a
dragoon rear sight-wonder how that shot for them? I'm still
looking for an SCW dragoon for my collection. Great find!

Stock not refinished but a great patina. It was maybe sanded
some in spain as some are. It had the Russian stock cartouche
scratched out a long time ago. I am very sure it was a full on
dragoon and the front sight was either lost or damaged and (or)
replaced in spain. It is just one of those lucky once in a
lifetime finds at a pawn shop for 100 or less. Bought a polish
m44 at the same time and I think the out the door was something
like 192 and change. Still one of my favorite gun stores and
they treat me very well. I have not shot it yet cause I didn't
give it a take down for fear of breaking the front sling hanger
but am pretty sure it will shoot nicely.

Nice one Des. From what I can see that looks to be like it is
probably from one of the Balkan countries. Very cool cleaning
rod. Does it have any of the SCW features other than the sling
hanger? (I only say that because the front hanger kind of looks
Balkan to me)

I believe it is Spanish. Has Spanish cleaning rod and the
hangers do resemble the Spanish hangers. It does not have any
import marks and stock resembles Spanish sanding traits. I could
of course be wrong though. How many of the late dragoons were
sent to the Balkans? Most I have encountered from there are the
91/30s and have an import mark on them.
