Yugo mostly but lots say a bubba finish because the stock is
neither shellacked or oil finish. I'm telling you right now that
if its a bubba coating, then some of my balkan m91s that still
had cosmo in the crevices are bubba too. I don't buy it. The
finish is identical. Two other knowledgeable collectors held it
in hand since I got it and agree its not a bubba poly job. What
it is I'm not sure. The argument the others are using FOR bubba
is simply that according to them the only thing on stocks
imported from that general region were the Soviet shellac or an
oil finish. Anything resembling a varnish or something must be a
bubba concoction.

Update on the finish on this rifle. Homer2 posted his
Westinghouse 91/30 conversion on the RMNF forum and the finish
looks identical to this rifle's. After discussing it with him I
am even more convinced this is some sort of varnish applied
before import. He is positive his finish isn't a poly coat as
well, and came in that way. Sooo, if you see an older 'balkan'
style import with this type of finish, I wouldnt dismiss it as a
bubba job like many have been doing.
