Price check: not your usual refurb

A somewhat local guy is considering selling a 1904 date 91/30
ex-dragoon. It has a refurb stamp on the barrel but definitely
saw a lot of use after refurb somewhere. I like it. What do you
think this one is worth?

That's a tough one without more specifics like bore condition,
property marks, import marked, peculiarities etc. I would say as
it sits $250 give or take $25, and that's going by what it might
sell for in my neck of the woods. As you know it varies by
region. It is definitely an interesting piece.

He says there is a small import mark on the barrel. Bore is dark
but it shoots well. Get this, he paid $20 for it, a friend had
it in a closet for years and wanted it gone.

A refurb is still a refurb to me. 100 bucks. Refurbs go from
what 120-179 today? I would pay no more than for a standard
refurb at todays prices. If he wants an offer I still say 100.

I agree on the refurb thing for the most part, I only have one
left and only wish I had one that I sold back. But I like
reissued refurbs though. Many mosins were refurbed at some point
other than the post war refurb and reissued, so to me this rifle
is comparable to that. I have a '22 Tula m91 infantry rifle with
a P stamp that may be SCW. Joe Leiper said the P denotes a major
arsenal repair in thr late 20's or early 30's along with a
probable rebuild/refurb. Being a refurb doesn't change its
desirability to me for sure. This rifle is unique and has a
niceb well used look, I'll try for it if he sells.

I'd say it's worth $200 plus for sure.
