Just about 100% about everything above the woodline is in the
       white:

Worst firearm cosmo I ever saw was my 1895 Nagant. Thing was
slathered in the shit like someone dunked it and a layer about
1/4 inch thick covered it. Damned thing was in great shape after
a bath in mineral spirits. Cosmo is the gift that keeps on
       giving in the collector's community.

I got mine in Early 2010 when they had those really nice Romy
refurbs for like 220 shipped. They are amazing rifles. IIRC,
that batch didn't have much if any cosmo.

The current batch of Chinese Type 53's come pretty well douched
in the stuff too. It doesn't smell like normal cosmo though.,
which makes me sad :( I love the smell of the Soviet cosmoline.
Makes my dick hard as it were.

I think each shithole had its own "blend" of preservative. MY
M57 and M59/66 had a weird smelling cosmo on them, had more of a
pine smell to it. Soviet stuff is just greasy, and the Albanian
stuff on the T-53's smells like cheap anal lube. They all give
me a semi, but I couldn't tell you which one I like "best".

CLMI04 I'm sure the current T-53 batch Cosmo is not nearly as
bad as some of the stories I have heard about some of the old
Omega Arms imports from years ago. I have heard stories about
some of them where the Chinese decided to use vegetable oil
instead of petroleum. Well, sometime along the way it went
rancid. Guys were gagging and puking as they were trying to
clean off the rancid preservative. The metal cleaned off no
problem, but the damage was done to the wood.

Vince, that is a lot of grease; but that is a good thing.

I think my worst cosmo job was a brand new in-the-wrapper SMLE
No.4 Mk. 1 slathered heavily. But underneath all of that gunk
was an absolutely gorgeous rifle. I had no idea the Brits every
       made anything so nice.
