It was one of a group of five amazing mosins in a local
collection that an elderly man gave to his grandkids. They each
picked a rifle, oldest to youngest. This was the one left
unpicked if you can believe it. The heir.wanted cash instead. I
had tried for the whole lot, this was my consolation prize. To
say I was thrilled is an understatement.

A 1918 Remington converted by Bannerman to 30-06, in original
M91 configuration complete with handguard, looked unfired. 1922
Tula m91, not the shorter dragoon, with Spanish made in USSR
stamp, Imperial Russian Finned dragoon, and here's the best.
1898 Japanese capture dragoon. All matching including totally
unupdated stock and with original flat rear sight leaf. No
crossbolt. Japanese cartouche on the stock. Captured in the 1905
Russo/Japanese war, bring back from post WW2 Japan most likely.
All were owned by him since the 50's.

I sought lots of advice from the collector gurus. No one has
seen one like it. GB it would hit $1500 easy they said.

The patina is amazing! I'm glad it's safe in a good home with a
collector who properly appreciates it. Just imagine if the heir
got it and turned it into a bubba project :o

I'm still bummed you couldn't score that Japanese capture, but
this is one hell of a consolation prize. When you first told me
