       Which Tokarev? Yugo or romy?
       By: 54r man Date: August 14, 2013, 3:57 pm

If I get a Tokarev which one should I get, a Yugoslav one or a
romanian one? Reasons why would also be appreciated. And where's
the best site to get one?

I have a Yugo, I like it because of the extra round in the mag.
I don't like it because extra mags are hard to find but I love
the thing. The grip is longer too for my Ogre hands. They're
really not that expensive. I don't think you can go wrong. Oh
wait, you can, because surplus 7.62x25 is almost impossible to
find now, and if you do, they want an arm and a leg for it.

       Boiled down answer:
Romanian TTC; uses 8 round mags and usually comes with two of
them. Also the refurb done on them looks to be fairly nice.
Yugoslavian M57; uses 9 round mags unique to the M57. They
usually only come with one of them and replacements can be
pricey. Some people, me included, prefer the M57 because of the
longer grip. Also, most of the M57's sold now are non-refurbed
or atleast an older refurb that was re-issued. Some can have
       lots of bluing wear.
It all depends on what you are looking for in a Tokarev. If you
have normal sized hands the longer grip of M57 won't make much
of a selling point either way.
Some good site are Wideners, Classic Firearms and if you have
       your C&R SOG has TTC's for $209.95 and M57's for $229.95

       I saw aimsurplus has M57s with 2 magazines and they're only a
little bit more than the romanian ones from classic.

Yeah, they are the newly manufactured ones. They didn't make a
whole hell of a lot of the Military ones, but me and a lot of
the others got lucky when AIM got a bunch a couple years ago.
There's nothing wrong with the commercial/modern ones, and
there's no difference except the markings and "collector's"
value. Go for it. If it were me in your spot, I would go for the
9mm model as ammo will be more accessible than the 7.62x25.
       Totally your call though.

else has a 9mm. How is the commercial x25 compared to the
       surplus?

       true?

It's a pretty hot little round. 19-2100 FPS out of a pistol.

hashash has this toic nailesd down 54rman.......one thing to
consideres is the tokarev istols m57 esecially are slowly fazing
out. by the time you come of age to urchase one there will
robably be a new affordable surlus istol to be had. also the
availbility of 76225 has seemed to dry u, and the current
"shortage of ammo" isnt heling. my best advice to you is to
save save save every dime you earn, and stick with the surlus
style forums . we will let you know how the market is faring
for what tye of firearm, how much you can eect to ayu, and ammo
availibility for said firearm. the m 57/tok was really oular -5
years ago.....ask that makarov guys about that. they are all
nice well made and a leasure to own shhot...what are we going to
do when there surlus ammo market is comletley dry thoiugh? i
striongly reccomend something in 9mm as availbility off ammo is
higher. bide your time and hoarde your cash. the net chea
istol trend will robably come in a more common caliberr anyway.
forgive my mistakes the backsace key doesnt work...
