WWII German Surplus Steel Cased 8x57 ammo

Just wondering how many of you guys also shoot WWII surplus
steel cased ammo. If you do, do you run into any problems with
split or ruptured cases? I've heard horror stories about the
stuff and have shot about 200 rounds of it through my rifles
with no issues. Most of it was dated 1940 with a few 1944 and 45
rounds with soft aluminum primers. I know people say it rusts
out from the inside because the cases weren't lacquered
internally and are therefore dangerous to shoot, but I'm
wondering if this might be internet lore? What say ya'll?

The 1940-1942 should be good, the later war stuff Rusting away
as it sits is because when the war started Turing against
Germany they started mass producing powder and they took
shortcuts in powder production that left acids in the powder
that would make make the steel case rust from the inside.

[/quote]no, wade67, asked about eastgerman 8mm and how somebody
just told the steel was brittle and I shouldn't shoot it so I
had to ask and that's the answer he gave me.
