Which Rifle Would You Have Carried Into Combat in WWI?

Just trying to stir the pot up. If it was 1917 and you could
pick ANY standard issue military rifle of the time to go into
combat with, which would you choose?

I've always shot SMLE's very well and felt really comfortable
doing it. I'd probably go that route.

I would choose the 1917 Enfield. Just because I prefer diopter
sights to V notch and it will still hold seven rounds of potent
30-06. I like the rimless cartridges better so there is no
chance of rimlock. It's a beefy rifle, and I've always been
partial to it. Second would be an SMLE.

I would go with the Model 1917 Enfield for the same reasons as
Hashash.

If I were involved in that particular war as an American I think
I would have been issued either an 03, or a 1917. If it were up
to me rifles aside I would probably prefer an m97 and a 1911 on
my hip.
