So I've done some things wrong in the mosin world, no I
havent cut up any of them but looking back now I'm surprised my
M91/30 isnt damaged or rusted out. I got it and 20 rounds of
Brass cased '86 Albanian surplus for Christmas, I take it out to
a friends to shoot it. You should know I didnt clean ANY of the
cosmoline off the rifle, at the 3rd round the bolt was locked
up, the 4th round didnt have any powder and was just primer. If
the bullet wouldve gone another 1/4 inch into the barrel I
wouldve been able to chamber and fire another round. 5th round
also got the bolt stuck. I pour windex down the barrel and leave
it. Next I time shoot it, its with that Czech light ball. That
really sticks the bolt up, to the point where I quit after 4
shots. It was laquer coated steel but I dont think thats the
issue. Again, I pour windex down the barrel. No rust. So since
I have the M24/47 apart on the coffee table I decide to clean
the M91/30. I get it all apart, (action screws were extremely
loose) put a couple of rags in the chamber and stick it in a
black trashbag in a car in the driveway. I comback a day later
and all the cosmoline/shit in the chamber effectively "melted"
out. So if you're a lazy tard like me, and have the stickybolt
problem heres an easy way to clear it out. I do know this worked
becuase the week after doing this, I ran 30 rounds of
copperwashed Steel 1946 L ball through it with no problem. Hope
this helps you cure your sticky bolt problems.
