Another 37 Izhevsk for Mat's survey. Probable SCW

I snagged this last weekend, couldn't leave it sit. Serial
number fits with it being an Spanish Civil War rifle, but no
proof positive traits. Non-Finn, non-refurb, all pre-war
features except one, no import marks. The floorplate was
replaced with a T53 one at some point based on the huge serial
number. The patina on it doesn't quite match the rest of the
rifle, I think it was done here.

I have a VERY similar rifle. Does the finish feel "waxy" to you
at all?

It doesn't feel tacky or anything, but it definitely has a a
different feel to it. It's hard to describe but I guess waxy is
one way to do it. It's not the same feel as my one Finn capture
91/30 for instance, even though the stocks look really similar.

Later this week it would've been! Always a day late and a dollar
short! I've had my grubby hands all over it several times.
Brandon has got to quite selling you guys all the guns I want.
;) The last time I was there I noticed all the M38s were gone
and found out Alden bought them then he got all the Polish
trainers. I thought I had found my own little honey hole! ;D
It's quite a place though, if you ever make it up this way we
all ought to go shooting.

I originally passed because I had already spent too much, but
talked myself into it. The m38s I posted here were from there,
as well as two nagants. Really nice shop. Brandon hooked me up
with a sweet Chilean mauser last year too. I wish I'd had more
time to go through everything. It's quite a haul for us to get
there, but most definitely we hope to be back. It would be
great to go shooting.

I figured those M38s were from there. I probably had my hands
all over those, too. I'm only an hour from the shop, but only
recently 'discovered' it when I was on a truck parts hunting
trip. I'm glad this SCW made it to a good home. I have a few
others up my sleeve. I'll have something cool to show off by the
end of the week which Brandon talked me into buying. When was
the last time you were up here?

We were there the beginning of March, that's the only time I've
been to that shop in person. Clayshooter spends time in the area
occasionally and had been there before IIRC. Small world.
