Hello and Welcome

Hi everyone, and welcome to MilModVets!
12 months ago, when Military Modelling Magazine finally folded a
lot of forum users suddenly lost their online community. It
might not have been the busiest of forums, but it was, by and
large one of the more friendly and welcoming places for
modellers of all standards to share ideas and models. Gary
Radford was a very prominent member of the forums, and a regular
contributor to the magazine itself. He took the trouble to try
and keep the community going by forming the
MilitaryModelling.com Veterans Facebook Group, which was a great
idea and worked well. Gaz is a great pal of mine, and I've been
in regular contact with him, albeit I have had a 12 month break
from model blogging. I was recently seized by a desire to blog
again and started to do so in the FB group. It soon became
clear to me that the Facebook format wasn't conducive to the
blogging format (and why should it be - it's a different type of
social media too a forum), so I had a look around for
alternatives. The technicalities of building a forum from
scratch were beyond me, but I found companies that could host a
forum and deal with the technical stuff. Createaforum allowed
users to build photo galleries, which seemed important for us,
and here we are.
My name is Sean Emmott, some of you may remember me from MilMod
days. My interests are WW2 subjects: 1/35 Armour and dioramas
and 1/48 Aircraft. I sometimes build other subjects, like jets.
I'm a firm believer that modellers should build for their own
pleasure, but also that we can always look to raise our own
standard so genuine, supportive, constructive criticism is part
of an online modelling community. I hope you will all find this
forum a welcoming, friendly and helpful place: your online
modelling club, if you like!
Sean

Hi Sean,
Thanks for setting this up. I'll try to join in but time is
short these days. I hope it works out for you.

Thanks Andy. I know what you mean about time being short! I've
been busy since Thursday and will be for the next couple of
days. But I'll be back soon. There are some aspects of the
boards that aren't working like I want them to, or like I think
they should, so I will try and sort them out.

Hi Sean, thank you for your kind words lets hope this site gets
off to a flying start. It would be great if we could get some of
the "Old Boys" back blogging again and I see by the intros we
already have a few. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank you for setting up this site and for all the hard work you
are putting in to it.
Thank you Sean
Gaz
