I copied the design from the ones from Poland. If they weren't
so expensive ($160) I just woulda bought a set.

You're gonna need some hardware. 2 BMW lug bolts or 2 M12x1.5
studs, and 4 matching lug nuts with standard 60 degree taper.

Too many VW's and Civics running around on Diamonds so no way I
was putting them on my car. Got myself some Black Rocks instead.
$80/ea vs $120/ea. Only problem is the 10" ones only have
ridiculous offsets like -38 or -50. SO I grabbed a pair of the
       -38 wheels and
       [img]
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen01.JPG[/img]

...I'm sure you figured where I was going with this.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen07.JPG[/img]
No, I didn't cut the wheel, just the welds.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen03.JPG[/img]
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen04.JPG[/img]
       The very porous garbage welds.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen02.JPG[/img]
       Weeeee!
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen08.JPG[/img]
I wasn't exactly sure how this was gonna work before I got to
cutting - Was the center pressed in? Was it held in place while
the pieces were welded? Well if it was just held in place, how
was I going to hold it there while I welded it? So I made this
       jig.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/wheeljig.JPG[/img]
Well turns out the centers where pressed in. Really damn tight,
too. So the jig basically turned into an offset gauge while I
slowly pressed the centers into place.
So a little bit of this...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen09.JPG[/img]
..and a little bit of this...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen19.JPG[/img]
       ...then some of this...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen11.JPG[/img]
       ...maybe some of this...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen15.JPG[/img]
...and some double checking my math, which proved wrong...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen14.JPG[/img]
...but eventually I got where I wanted it to be.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen12.JPG[/img]
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen10.JPG[/img]
To make sure they ran true, I put them on the front spindle and
spun them, then took them back to the press to make fine
adjustments. I used the tape to mark high/low spots. Turns out
wheels are not very true to begin with. I fought with these
pretty bad and couldn't get them to spin perfect - so I checked
one of the unmodified wheels and whoa nelly - not even close.
Mine are way better than those. Good enough to the point I don't
       balance them.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen16.JPG[/img]
So when I was as satisfied as I could possibly be, I welded them
       back up...
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen17.JPG[/img]
...and hit them with some semi-gloss.
  HTML http://cavimike.com/328Citen18.JPG[/img]
Was it worth it? I don't know honestly. I really do like the
fact that I can say these are NOT Diamonds - and yes, EVERYONE
asks "Diamonds?" - but this was a LOT of work. It actually took
me a couple months to do this because I would get frustrated and
walk away for weeks at a time. Hopefully it will be a while
before I crash these but when I do, I'm prolly just gonna buy
Diamonds to replace them. Or maybe I'll just get some alum
       wheels.

Decided to put those adapters on.

Didn't see this coming - BMW had multiple castings for the same
part - needed to grind away some of the adapters.

Another thing I didn't foresee - the tie-rods are too long. To
get my toe in, I had to cut off about 1/2" of the threads, and
remove the collar and jam nut. To secure them, I'm gonna get a
couple wire cable clamps from Home Depot when they open in a
       couple hours.

I'm still dialing in the alignment but the car feels really
fcking weird now. Gonna take some getting used to.

Took the car for a few laps this morning in the rain - the extra
angle is really helpful. Had a couple "oh sh!t" moments where I
thought for sure I was gonna loop it - but that extra bit more
lock and mashing the throttle to get my speed back up and I just
pulled right out of it. But the downside is the car feels really
twitchy and I don't really feel as in control as before. I used
to be able to hold a nice steady line with very little throttle
modulation but now I'm making all sorts of adjustments.
But all of this might be meaningless anyways, I gotta see how it
acts in the dry. I'm also still experimenting with front camber
       and caster settings.
