This is blowing up on my facebook feed currently so I'm posting
for you all to weigh in on.
Personally I want to start out by saying I have mad respect for
all of the guys in the competitive drifting series's? MDU to
Formula D level it is full on commitment to drifting at an event
and to your car, they have a lot of money on the line and in
most cases a lot of sponsors pushing them to do the best in
every event. Their cars are technology found in what seems to me
a mad scientist's laboratory purge tanks, swirl pots, even dry
sump set ups. It's absurd, they are perfect working machines (
at least start out that way) things of beauty in my opinion.
They have a style all to themselves.
To write an article all because of these cars are "less stylish"
than they used to is stupid.
There is no way grassroots drifting will ever die, this forum is
a testament to that. We all thought there was nobody really
wanting to drift. Mike and Mike thank you for putting this
together. I'm stoked to drive this year whenever that gets to be
hopefully soon. We are grassroots drifting whether you are a
beginner driver or just looking for a place to start it all
starts with grassroots. Everybody driving in the event series
started at a grassroots event just driving a car.
This has been a rant.

Yeah i havent followed prodrifting in a while, i really dont pay
attention to any drifting that isnt mine. My OPINION is that
American drifting is an off shoot of Japanese drifting, but ever
since we've started nearly a decade ago, we have evolved
separatly, and eventually developed our own style, and I think
thats just fine.
I do think the horsepower arms race this past couple years is
getting out of hand. In my personal OPINION fd (or pro2) should
cap the hp at a more reasonable number like 500, this would
level the playing field and give new fd drivers a better chance
to break into the pro game.
Before any of you assholes start telling me how dumb i am, im
not that passionate about anyof this shit, i only care about my
own drifting, and i dont even take that super seriously
anymore...

Watch Taka's Flying86 documentary and you'll see how America
killed drifting. And no - it has nothing to do with the V8
either.

I made it about 5 minutes into that taka aono sob story
Taka Aono is the hardest working driver in drifting history blah
blah His little corolla just cant keep up with cars today in
formula d boohoo
If you want to compete on a professional level you have to be
competive thats like a guy with CP trying to win the gold medal
in the 500 meters or whatever the hell they do at the olympics.
Or a retard like me trying to read shakespeare can I do it yea
probably, but I have no joy in being bad at something that I
lack the skills to do. Taka can drive fuck yea he can drive but
hes at like a 9th grade reading level with everyone around him
at a college level.

That's funny you see it as Taka being boo hoo hoo but I see it
as everyone else as boo hoo I can't keep repairing my motor wah
so I'm just gonna put an LS1 in everything I own sob sob I can't
control my car when it's slammed and looking good so I'm just
gonna monster-truck the thing sniff sniff I still can't initiate
without my e-brake so I'm just gonna out-power you. Whatever.
Bunch of b!tches.

This times a billion.
No one wants to go back to drifting before America got involved.
You guys watch the **** from the 90's recently? Tandems are a
million miles apart, drifts are slow as ****, no angle, and
e-brake for everything because there just isn't enough power in
the 90hp N/A motor.
Yeah I agree that it's kinda crappy that the LSx series motor
has become the catch all, but it provides the perfect base line
for anyone drifting. Want a 800hp SR motor? Well go **** your
panties in a bunch because once you make a house-loan down
payment on building the motor, you're most likely going to blow
that **** up within a year. Or you could go with a v8 which is
more reliable for an 800hp goal due to more displacement.
Did America kill drifting? No, not really, the circumstances for
which we are all ****ing would have come regardless if the good
ol' U.S. of Freedom never got involved. I think the main problem
is FD still hasn't got a solid foundation because drifting is
still so new of a sport. Everybody has their own idea of what
drifting is.
