dang. You're farrrr.
There are some SCCA autoXs up there. If you sweet talk them, you
could probably work in some drifting. As long as you don't hit
cones. I worked with a few guys that ran in it.
Of course if you ever make it down to SE Michigan you can slide
with us!

Hi everyone,
I just moved from TN to Holly MI in July, glad to see that there
is some drifting up here - I was getting worried. I've been
involved with drifting for over 10yrs (mostly Traction Optional
and East10 Drift), but finally built a car 2yrs ago.
My s14 started out its life like this: Power first - KA-T,
Megasquirt, stock engine, welded diff

I've since added some knuckles, but I'm struggling getting my
alignment to feel right...

Planning on driving at no-star bash, but I need some events to
get some more seat time! (I haven't done any events with the
knuckles) Suggestions?

Welcome! And hit up autocity when they open up again. Should

Just checked out that thread - sounds like an awesome deal!
About how many drivers would you guess we have in the Detroit
area? Has anyone tried to organize a parking lot type event?

Don't expect a drift car to drive good grip style. The better
you make the car for counter-steering, the worse it's going to
make the car for normal steering.

That's kinda what I'm dealing with. Its a zero ackerman knuckle
so it feels terrible in low speed, tight turns (like parking
lots etc). I think my caster is screwy too, but the alignment
machines are telling me it's within spec. I like my car to self
steer, but I'm getting serious amounts of jacking at high
angles. Feels almost like something is binding in the steering
once I hit like 180 deg of steering wheel input...
Guess that's what i've got winter for haha

That's the lack of ackerman doing that. And if you have a very
aggressive LSD or a spool/welded, it's only going to make it
worse. No way around it. You're also going to lose a ton of grip
going around corners grip-style. I daily my car like this,
sometimes it's a pain and at first I wasn't sure if it was worth
it - but after a few "excursions" it became clear to me that
it's very worth it.
You gotta get some time in with the car sideways. Hopefully you
were familiar with the car before these mods so you can really
appreciate the differences. If you weren't, all you're going to
see are the negatives.

yeah, diff is welded. Looks like I need a separate grip car
because I love both to be honest. Although I had PBM knuckles
that I borrowed from a friend for a while and I thought they
were awesome for both...
