Where do you get your tires?

I'm assuming no one buys new tires so who's got a good used tire
guy? Or has everyone switched to craigslist?

First class tire in Clio and Flint is pretty cheap. They charge
by rim size, $35 for 17s mounted and balanced. Plus you could
probably hit them on the way to Autocity.

i go offbrand: sunny/federal/wanli/achilles
i find new tires last so much longer you end up saving money by
not needing to mount/dismount so much and needing less wheels
total.

Kenda tires are amazing. One set will last you an entire event,
probably two if you're underpowered. Order directly from Kenda
and them ship tires to you on a pallet for ultimate savings.

Federal 595s have been the best bang for the buck for me, you
can find them for around $85 a tire. Theyre good tires and they
make lots of smoke.
There's always deals on craigslist though if you're on a budget
and need tires

I'm getting the idea that the tires you guys buy are
specifically for track events. The cars I daily drive are the
cars I drift with and new tires are a complete waste of money. I
haven't bought a new tire in over 10 years. I spend 80-100 per
axle mounted/balanced and my tire guy lets me rummage through
his stacks and pick the tires I want.

good point on the smoke^ if you're looking for smoke and grip
the hankook rs3 is the best smoking tire i've ever seen. never
used them. That's some PRO-AM shit....

NO. Every tire listed is a STREET TIRE. There is no such thing
as a drift only tire. Some tires are built and molded to
withstand a higher heat threshold, some tires are not.
If you're buying used tires, I can %100 guarantee you that you
are wasting money. If you're balancing your rears, I can once
again %100 guarantee you that you are wasting money.
You spend $80-100 per axle to go out and have fun. I spend $200
per axle and not only do I go out and have fun, I don't need
haul 10 more junk tires to the track, pay to have them replaced
on the tire machine, or waste my time jacking up the car and
breaking lug nuts loose. One Kenda will last 3 Federals.

I can only assume you've never bought a used tire before because
you can't guarantee something like that. Used tires are 20-40
each depending on size and depth of tread and if you happen to
have a good tire guy - which is what this thread is about
finding - you can pick and choose what tires you want. Used
tires are a much better deal than new tires.
And I never said anything about there being drift specific
tires.

Oh, and I checked out that tires-easy place. $166.43 to ship 4
tires to zip code 49503 (Grand Rapids). Over $40 per tire just
to ship.
