Rover 45 door mirror covers - remove and replace
       By: david75 Date: March 4, 2013, 5:27 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I have bought a pair of chrome door mirror covers, but I can't
work out how to get the old (body colour) ones off.
       1. Searching various forums, some suggest that they can be
levered off, but mine seem very firmly in place and I don't want
to damage anything eg the black plastic surround. What is the
best way to take them off?
(They are electric adjustable mirrors. 03 plate car)
       2. I've also read suggestions that to remove the covers you need
to take the mirror glass off and then somehow unclip the covers
from the inside. Is that true? But I can't find how to get the
glass off. Some suggest that you can just lever it out with a
flat screwdriver, others say there are some clips that need to
be unclipped, but again I don't want to damange anything by
       trying too hard.
Any guidance on the proper way to remove/replace the covers,
       without damaging anything?

Don't know if you have resolved this, but they need prizing?
from the bottom, there are four small clips to get out. Use the
new covers to work out the location and the use a small flat
head. They are stronger then you think ;)

No I have not done the mirror covers yet what with the bad
weather etc. Thanks for your comments - very helpful

I know its ages since this thread was started but I just thought
       I'd give an update.
The comment from Chester MG Rover was very helpful, but what I
also did was to get an old broken mirror from a scrapyard so I
could work out exactly what to do, where to stick the blade in,
and to practice on it without having to worry about breaking
anything. Once I was confident about exactly where the clips
were, how to prise the blade in and how hard to go at it, then I
did the real ones on the car no problem. So thanks for your
help, and here are the shiny chrome mirror covers: ;D
