       DoS for Dummies

       For those of you who don't know, DDOS is an attack on a network
       or server. Its stands for Distributed Denial-of-Service. Despite
       this I don't believe your likely to get DDOSed as it is when
       multiple systems all target one server and 12-year-old boys
       don't really have the facility to do that. I believe the
       attacker is using Slow Read or Application Level Flood.
       Basically what these are are systems sending lots of requests to
       the server (e.g. joining) and trying to crash the server (same
       as DDOS just easy to facilitate) All of these processes fall
       under the category DoS (Denial-of-service) because they all have
       the same intention, prevent genuine users from contacting the
       server.
       Hope this helped you guys. Now don't go around saying you were
       DDOSed because you probable weren't unless you were attacked by
       Anonymous then your screwed or some internet thugs.
       P.S. Host-booting may occur this is when an attacker uses a 3rd
       party device or software to directly boot or attack someones IP
       causing it to disconnect for a few minutes. This process is easy
       but is not chosen by professionals and can't wipe out a server
       for more than a minute a day.
