Cleaning Master Kaleb's Cabin

Lush tendrils of rich emerald line the worn earth path leading
toward the farm of Lady Nyah.
says to ALL: I’d seen the Master Kaleb while briefly in the
market place last night. He was kind to me as always and I
chatted with him while there. He told me that I was to let him
know when I was dancing at the Fair, as soon as I knew the day
and to make sure to come by his cabin and clean the kitchen and
common room.
It was on the fringes of being warm here. The rays of Lar Torvis
fully peaked over the mountains, touching on Hulneth. The rays
were just warm enough where I knew the children would be itching
to shirk off chores to go play in the water though the Jarls
would make sure that they stuck to their work. Every now and
then I curiously wondered how it may have been to grow up in a
place like this, but the thought never goes much past the
initial curiosity. I was born a slave and I was happy as such so
why entertain such a thought?

The Cabin has been set on a peaceful part of the island ..set
near the flowing streams and backdrop to the Forests
says to ALL: The Master’s cabin was well known to me, having
passed it by many, many times. The village was small and
everyone was known to one another, which made being an unknown
here virtually impossible.
I pushed the door to the cabin open and stepped inside
carefully, shucking my boots off to the side and lining them up
to the left of the closed door. I moved further within, throwing
open the shutters from the kitchen and the common room and gave
a squinty-eyed look at the space. Did you live with my
Mistress’s verr? It looked as though at least 10 had come
through and had themselves a party. I just shook my head and
chuckled about the nature of Masters and opened the long
cupboard in the kitchen that housed the cleaning items, which
looked untouched.

The Cabin has been set on a peaceful part of the island ..set

says to ALL: I began with the dusting. It looked as though you
had a years’ worth of soot built up on everything. The rag’s I
used came away as black as night. When I was finished with that,
I brought the broom out to make its debut and began a good
sweeping over every corner. Cobwebs were freed, dust bunnies and
whatever soot that didn’t get on tables and chairs and
bookshelves. I muttered a bit and sneezed. Finally..mopping. I
went out to the well and drew water from there, turning the
spigot and washing my hands which matched the soot. The black
water ran between fingers and onto the grass. I filled the
bucket and as I looked around, I found small, fragrant flowers,
pinching the petals and tossing them into the water. With a
dunk, I began the assault on the floors, leaving a fragrant
scent in its wake and much cleaner floors. When I tossed the
water outside, I was half afraid I would kill the grass right
there.

says to ALL: Now that I was done with that, I made sure the
kitchen was spotless, which included any dishes laying around or
pilled up in the wash basin. I brought those outside, with a
scrub brush and lamented not being able to use hot water to at
least soak them. Then I got to work with soap and elbow grease.
After about an ahn, half were done and after another half ahn,
the rest were done and I brought them back inside to dry and put
back on shelves. The rest was fairly easy. Making up your
sleeping palette and beating furs outside. It was a huge chore,
but I wasn’t averse to doing it and frankly, I’d done much worse
in jobs in Kar. When everything was finished I placed all
cleaning items back into the cupboard and I headed back outside,
grateful for the fresh air and continued on my leisurely walk.
