Preparation for The Trade in Skjern

says to ALL: I called out to Ol Josh.... and wasn't Long he
arrived in the Hut to stand alongside the desk where I sat
at....The lantern shone spreading light over the papers that lay
in front of me, on the desk.... I placed the Writing tool down..
and turned in the chair to look to Ol Josh
"Has The Queen bees arrived yet?.... I have asked for the Queens
bee to be bought from the hives In Hulneth to me here in
Sulport.... I will need to sort the hives in the Morning and
extract the honey ready for the trade in Skjern.”
I paused .. “is Oalf here or in the City?”
Ol Josh Nodded ”he is here tonight and will be till we sail at
the end of The week”.
.. I will Need him to come with me ...early as possible...."

the skeps with the new ones ... they are in the smaller storage
hut down by the orchard..That way I can help with the Process of
smoking out the bees.” I turned. I will need to have enough
Honey to Exchange for the Mead Volstagg has planned to Order....
the honey comb and wax as well to be gathered and taken with us
for trade.... this process will take a few days...and we Need to
get it started.....”
Ol Josh Moved Over and stood along side me... we Both Looked out
Over The farm... and then ol Josh Moved out....
”I will start Now and Meet you soon when all the Skeps are
collected and he gets them to the Orchards”
With That I went to Make myself some blackwine and start sorting
The Paper work for the trade.....

says to ALL: I made My Way outside , I wore tan leathers and a
tunic with Long sleeves.I wore knitted finger less gloves... and
round My waist was the Leather belt wrapped twice to keep The
tunic secured....No keys hung from The leather belt today for I
would not Need anything to take My attention from The task I had
to do.... Oalf was More Experienced at the extraction Of The
bees...but I had attended him In Hulneth Many times.... was Not
long and I passed By The Ladies and stopped to talk to them on
there preparations...Ol Josh had already sorted The Women and
had them boiling The water for the Hives to be doused in ...that
would help to Dissolve The wax comb and the honey....some of the
children had gathered some bosk dung and Came on Over to me...
and we then we all Moved off to the orchids area where the Bees
Hives were... Looking Over to My right I watched as zayne
gathered the new skeps and put them in a small cart...then came
towards Us as we all Made way to The orchids.... zayne followed
behind

says to ALL: when we had arrived at the orchards the Others
Moved to the fires... the sacks of dung were emptied to the fire
area... zayne arrived and behind him was Oalf and Ol Josh.... I
motioned for zayne to go place the skeps in other shelters about
the Orchard .... away from the hives that were now working
hives....he moved off in another direction.... I sent the kids
to gather me a selection of Long thick sticks.....then they
would go back to the Families and ready for the Hives to be
bought back to them … I placed the basket I carried on the
Ground with the wooden Buckets....
“Ready Oalf called out...”
”I nodded and gathered some cloths... and slid them in to the
bucket....
I gathered up one of The sticks and a bucket placing the dung in
the bucket and went with Oalf to The skeps... Oalf took the
stick and added the dung wrapped in some rep cloth and set it
alight....the dung smoldered as Oalf took one of the skeps and
turned it over the smoke now over the bottom of the Open base of
the skep... and as he waved it over the opening the bees settled
and we began to remove the drone cone.. and honey Comb.. passing
Me both for me to sort in to The two Buckets.....the Honey comb
in One the brood nests in the Other....as we Moved through These
10 skeps ol Josh and zayne started on the Other stand.... it was
a great idea to have These set up in the orchards for this would
pollinate the Fields and also give me The Honey I needed....

says to ALL: after The buckets were full the Ladies would come
and collect them and would spend the time to Line Fresh buckets
with rep cloth and add The Honey comb.... and then Secure the
Top of The cloth tightly....placing a stick through The Knot and
twisting it ….squeezing the mixture ...having Now the cloth
settled in the bucket for Now...ready to be transported back to
the farm.. while Ol Josh zayne Olaf and Myself continued
emptying the skeps the ladies and children Made way from the
Orchards to the farmstead.... kitty and ver would then Hang the
cloths from one of the Racks so the honey then could drip in to
the bucket...twisting the cloth at the top to continue to
squeeze the Honey free for what would be left in the cloth would
be The wax needed to trade as candle wax....

says to ALL: This continued all day.... many Skeps Now
Emptied... many buckets Trans ported from the Orchards to the
farmstead.... I was Now happy with what I had Gathered and Began
to pack up ... to Return back to the property
"I will leave zayne here He can assist you Both and have The
skeps cleaned and prepared....the bees will return and start all
over again....
when I arrived back at the farm I made My Way straight to where
the Ladies had been boiling the water.... They now had The drone
cone soaking in the warm water ... I gathered up the Trays and
put Rep cloth Over the top securing it under the Tray so the
Cloth was stretched and tight over the top and filled them with
water.. and placed them in the ashes.....then added the wax from
the Buckets of water... and laid it out over the cloth....it
would then melt and drip down and into the water below and when
all had melted It would rest Over night and become solid in a
wax block.... ready to be packed away for transportation ....
