It's the Little Things

One of my favorite phrases is "it's the little things that
count" because there is nothing more true than that right there.
Most people think that only major events in life are considered
to be accomplishments when that isn't the case at all. Little
things add up and eventually lead to big things. What a lot of
people don't realize is that nothing big happens that didn't
start off by smaller actions. I apologize for being really vague
on my explanation here, but this phrase can be used in so many
different situations! For example...
Say you haven't checked your mailbox in two weeks. The mailman
probably considers you annoying and you're probably going to be
annoyed with yourself when you finally bring yourself to do
this. You find yourself spending 5-10 minutes fighting with a
mountain of paper and ads trying to get everything out without
ripping something potentially important. You've finally managed
to get your mail, your mailbox is clean and a whole other two
weeks will pass before the mailman begins to roll his eyes when
approaching your mailbox. So...let's say the next day it rains.
You use this rainy day to catch up on household chores and
general things you have fallen behind on around the house. The
time comes to tackle that pile of mail that is over two weeks
old and you are ready. As you're rummaging through a 60% grocery
ad to 40% actual mail stack, you stumble across an overdue bill
that you had no idea was overdue until this very moment. As you
are walking to fetch your phone and pay this bill, you hear an
odd noise out front so you poke your head out into the wet
wilderness to see what's going on. You discover the noise is
coming from your mailbox door flapping in the rain and wind
because it has somehow come unlatched. Now...Imagine you didn't
get the mail a day sooner? Guess what would be scattered all
over the street, your neighbors lawn, your lawn and the disaster
that would be. BE PROUD OF YOURSELF! It may have taken you two
weeks to get the mail but you did take proactive steps in
getting your mail and preventing a further delay on that overdue
payment and a possible rain bath when cleaning up your wet,
soggy mail. It's the little things guys! Remember that.
