       But its legitimacy depends, without exception, on it itself
       producing the limits of the intervention of the State and of
       succeeding governments, both in the performance of legality and
       in the administration of justice. Cuban law is, therefore, that
       of the socialist State ; at least that of the State that emerged
       from the 2019 Constitution : a right of the liberal reform of
       the Cuban economy , never completed, and of the reform of
       democracy, never begun. If we study the island legal system, we
       will find typical contradictions of the transition stages from
       socialism with an all-powerful State, to socialism with a mixed
       economy, state and private, which relies on foreign investment
       and eliminates the vocabulary and principles of Soviet
       constitutionalism.

       of internal unity of its legal system,
       since it contains proposals for laws such as the Family Code -
       advanced, progressive, technically complex, to the rescue of the
       autonomy of the will for the solution of many family legal
       relationships—, with others such as the Penal Code, which
       preserves the death penalty in the face of a Constitution that
       enshrines the right to life, and penalizes eminently civil
       conduct, such as political demonstration and the use of foreign
       funds, legally received, to carry out any activity that the
       interpreters of the law consider contrary to the current
       political order.

       We have reached this moment after decades of a strict
       "administrative" of Cuban civil law, in an environment where the
       legal traffic of assets —in which the application of the norms
       of the rights of obligations and property contracts, of
       successions by cause of death, and mercantile—, was tied to
       minor decisions of the Ministry of Justice and other special
       norms that reduced these branches of law to indications that
       notaries should know more deeply than the law.
