is this Jenson Button's last year in F1?

I feel he has had his days of glory and is now just going
through the motions. Not really pushing the limits anymore but
still just about quick enough. He has a lot of experience and
can make good strategy calls but then so can my Grandmother.
Does McLaren still have the faith in him and importantly do
Honda like what they see and hear from him these days? My
'feeling' is Honda want someone with hunger!! Riciardo, Grojean
       or even Bottas?

In Jenson's defense, he hasn't had a car he could push the limit
with in 3 years. That's no fault of his. I still think he has a
few good years left in him.
I've never thought that Jenson was "real" championship material,
but he is a good, solid driver. I think he'll get one more
extension with McLaren...at least until McLaren get their act
together somewhat and start challenging for wins. At that point,
they'll shop around for a go getter driver I'm sure.

I think Jenson has had it. Not saying he can't drive, but I
think he's over it. He had nothing but shit cars to drive his
whole career. He got one good one, made the best of it, and went
right back to shit cars again.
I think he'll hang it up and get a job commentating once in a
while. He's getting too old for this shit anyway.

He may be in the older crew, but he is fitter than most of not
       all.
Give him a winning car and he will be wdc again i am sure.

A winning car?? He had by far the best car on the grid and JUST
managed not to throw it away!!
We need a driver that can win in not the best car....and doesn't
whine about grip ALL the time. Jenson is good, fit etc but he
just isn't in the same class as Lewis, Nico, Alonso (spit)
etc....sure if the car is perfect in every way then he might be
hard to beat, but can't rely on that to win a wcc or wdc.

In fairness, Hammer, Brawn GP didn't have the development during
the year that everybody else did. Sure, they started with a car
1.5 seconds faster, but by the 4th race the jig was up.
Everybody else was introducing their own blown diffusers and
negated that advantage. That's why Jenson almost lost it: He
finished the year in the same car he stated with while everybody
else got better and better cars.

I agree that the Brawn didn't have the development of some of
the other teams but they did win 6 out of the first 7 races, so
were a bit more dominant than the just the first 4 races. In
fact that year they won 8 out of 17 races. I seem to remember
that Jenson even needed the help of the Brawn team to hobble the
challenge of Rubens with a few cautionary pitstops at
inconvenient moments. But as I get older and less wise my memory
       fades!!
I wait with baited breath for the driver announcement for next
year....there is one interesting little thing that was brought
to my attention last night, with John Walker/Diageo sponsorship
McLaren cannot sign a driver under the age of 21 to drive in F1
races. I wonder who it was they had an eye on or are keeping an
       eye on??

I agree except for the Rubens thing. I mean, come on. Rubens has
had nothing but excuses his entire career. The simple fact for
me is this - if your teammate won 6 of the first 7 races, why
didn't you finish right behind him every time?
I mean, with the exception of mechanical failure, we're seeing
       that with Mercedes right now.
Rubens loves to play the victim card. He always has. Simple fact
is he isn't that good. Never was. That's why he's not just been
beaten by his teammates, he's been dominated completely by them.

Yea...Rubens has always sort of played the victim. If it was at
one team, that would be something. Two? Not very likely. Three?
       No way.

Has that lucky 4th place saved his job??
I think Vettel is very lucky to be even walking away from that
       race.
