June 15th Hive inspections at Anton & Christies

We had a rather small turn out Saturday but it was quite
informative and I believe that we all learned several things
from this experience.
also, there were several hives to go through. YOU should have
been there!!!

If you find comb that has been drawn out like this, it should
be removed. Bees don't always like plastic and have a tendency
to build the comb up and off
the foundation.

Carl,
You got it. A laying worker. It's not too difficult to know
if you have a laying worker because she doesn't lay just one egg
per cell. The difficult part is in spotting her. I now have a
laying worker in one of my colonies. I went through it this
afternoon trying to find her but couldn't. I did find several
hundred eggs....

The cell is larger than normal because it was designed to be a
Queen cell.
