       Newbie checking in!

My name is Carl McBee Jr. I just got bees last month (May 2019).
My father kept bees years ago. I never was interested in them.
My son has shown interest in bees for a couple of years. I told
him that, if he continued to learn about them and maintained
interest in them, I would consider getting bees to keep with
him. He continued to study bees and other insects and
periodically brought me his phone to show me beekeeping videos
for years. He also got pretty good at pointing out hives on the
side of the road as we drove around. Last October, he heard
about a beekeeping class while visiting Fred Berry on a school
trip and asked to go. As he had kept up his end of our bargain,
I figured it was time for me to keep up mine. We attended the
class and met James. At his suggestion, we began the search for
equipment to keep two hives so that we could use one to help the
other when needed. We found a gentleman outside of Melbourne
selling out several hives, suits, and a couple of honey
extractors (one of which is in excellent condition and we would
loan if needed to members here). James got us a couple of
packages and we are off to the races.
I work as IT director for Volt Industrial Plastics in Yellville.
Before becoming your Secretary this year, I had served on the
Tax equalization board, Quorum Court, on several committees
(sometimes as secretary or chairperson), as treasurer and later
chair of a political party, and held several other officers
positions in fraternal organizations. I currently serve on our
county election commission. I have always enjoyed being involved
in groups and am starting to enjoy our group as much as I do the
bees. Heck, you guys have not, as of this message, stung me. :)
My son will be 13 this month. He is fascinated with most
wildlife, but has a particular affinity for insects and
       amphibians.
My wife is a Service Coordinator (scheduling and so on) at Home
Instead Senior Care. She is allergic to bees and wasps, but has
agreed to let us keep them as long as she doesn't have to take
care of them or mow around them. She admits that she has only
actually ever been stung by a bee once. Wasps are her real
       "enemy" as she calls them.
My daughter is 9 and is probably the toughest one in the house.
She has moments where she likes the bees and other times shows
no interest. Still, she may develop an interest over time. Even
if she doesn't, she is learning not to be afraid of them.
Neither she nor my son seem to have their mother's allergy.
