Running in Wine

I would like to get Micro-Cap 12 running in Wine under Linux
Mint (currently LM20).
In case people don't know, Wine provides a wrapper within Linux
which translates the calls an executable compiled for Windows
makes, into calls for Linux. So, for example, the "hosted"
software might send an operating system request to (say) open a
pane on the desktop in Windows-speak, and Wine intercepts that
and translates it to a Linux call to do the same thing.
To make life fairly easy, Wine can run installers, and it sets
up a virtual file system to mimic what Windows programs expect -
so within Wine there is a C: drive, for example.
The MC12 installer seemed to run OK, and that puts an icon on
the Linux Mint desktop so that double-clicking it opens MC12 as
a window on the desktop (I'm using the Cinnamon desktop for
Mint, by the way).
I have some problems with font sizes, but I wouldn't be
surprised if that's "just me" because I have a 4K monitor with a
2x magnification running and some programs don't seem to adapt
to that well. Things seem to work and I can lay down a few
components into a circuit.
However, "save" flat refuses to work, and trying to open a
sample project crashes Wine (or even the whole PC).
Any tips welcome.

I regret I don't have any real experience of Wine or Linux.
Let's hope somebody comes along who does.
