       Building a chicken coop - Instructions by Home Depot

       A simple design with apx 12 sq feet floor space to house 4
       standard size chickens.  Step 3 of part 1 gives you an idea of
       size (I didn't see an overall size listed - but I didn't read
       all of the instructions).

       I see three issues with the plans that need improvement.
       1) access for cleanup is limited to reaching through the nest
       boxes (not ideal) or working through the ramp opening which
       looks to be about 12-15 inches wide.
       2) they need a night time roost or they will sit on top of the
       nest boxes and we all know what that will lead to.
       3) there is very limited ventilation when the ramp is closed at
       night, easily fixed.
       My advise is keep it simple but plan for daily maintenance.  If
       the design makes it difficult it will probably not get done as
       often.

       You are absolutely right! It is a pretty basic design and would
       definitely need to be tweaked to make it viable. Could be a good
       starting place for someone to use as a guide. Thanks for your
       input!
