Introduction and Welcome from Club President, Angela Fore
By: Angela Fore Date: February 6, 2018, 9:29 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
My name is Angela Fore and I am the current 2018 President of
Mobile Bay Area Backyard Chickens. On behalf of the Board of
Directors and Advisory Board I would like to welcome you to the
MBABYCC forum. The creation of this forum has been a labor of
chicken love by Travis and Kathy Rayner and we as a club are
deeply indebted to their tireless service and dedication to the
forward movement of MBABYCC. It is our intention for this forum
to be a place where you can share exciting news about your
flock, ask questions from your fellow guests, research topics
pertaining to poultry health and welfare as well as provide a
venue for you to buy and sell poultry and other goods. This is
truly an exciting time in our club's history! We have come a
long way since the idea for a chicken club was conceived in Ed
Williamson's heart and that first meeting took place at St. Elmo
Feed and Seed back in 2011. We are so glad that you, our dear
chicken family, are along for the ride!
I have been a member of MBABYCC since 2014 and a member of the
club Board of Directors since April of 2017. It is my pleasure
and honor to serve as your current president. We have a great
year of "firsts" planned for our amazing club so if you are not
a paid member I would ask that you consider making the
investment of 20.00 annually to receive the full benefits that
our club provides for your entire family. We have monthly
educational meetings where you not only learn about responsible
flock management and win great door prizes but you also have the
opportunity to spend time with others who love chickens as much
as you do. We have two picnics a year, a Christmas party and
various other activities planned throughout the year so your
investment of 20.00 is money well spent.
A little about my flock: Over the years I have fallen in love
with rare breed Orpingtons. Currently I have 3 Gold Laced Black
       (1 rooster, 2 hens) , 3 Silver Laced (1 cockrel, 2pullets), 1
Splash, 2 Blue and 2 Splash/Mottled. They are loves of my
chicken life and it seems l learn something new everyday from
them. This summer, I am hoping to expand the flock with the
addition of about 6 more Gold Laced Blacks. Orpingtons have the
loveliest temperament and make a wonderful addition to your
flock if you want docile birds that enjoy being handled.

Awesome! I have so many kinds of birds, I am so addicted!!
Peafowl, guineas, pheasants, chickens, turkeys, quail, ducks,
geese, swans, emus, parrots, finches, doves. Did I leave
anybody out? :) My chickens are free range and assorted.
Besides eggs, their main job is to incubate the peafowl eggs
because they do a much better job than I. My address is
Robertsdale but I live very close to I-10, out in Rosinton.

LOL I had been searching for emus for a few years and finally
have a super friendly male and an older pair (that came from a
closed-down petting zoo). Hoping to get a baby female from a
farm in Florida soon. Would love to breed them and sell babies
because they make the most wonderful pets! The older pair did
not breed this year so I don't know what the deal is with them.
If I do get the baby female then it's at least two years to
maturity so this is long term.

[/quote]It will be daylight at the next Board Meeting so you can
see them!! And if you will conduct the meeting I will be happy
to do a Breed Spotlight. I don't want to be presenting all of
the time, y'all will get sick of me. Lol

Hey Angela, I want to say your welcome and introductory
speech/essay is most excellent. I am particularly impressed by
the fact that you know when you joined the club and when you
joined the board. I have done both, but couldn’t tell you when.
I am glad to be a part of this great organization. Keep up the
       great work.
       Oh, I currently have 11 6-week old chicks: 5
       mixbreed/turkens/silkies (two frizzled)& 6 hatchery chicks from
St Elmo-2 Gold-laced Wyandottes, two Ameraucanas, and two Barred
Rock pullers. In addition I have a single 10-week old Ayan
Cemani pullet. My main mature flock of 2 roosters and 9 hens
include the most beautiful English Orpington Rooster -He’s big,
dark-colored, some kind of of split to lavender named
Hoss(related to Elvis Wayne). My hens include 2 black sex-links,
2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Barred Rock, one Hamburg, and several mix
       -breed hens.
Also I am currently hatching some Marans eggs for adding to my
