Shopping from the Metaverse and Web3: a new way of shopping

Throughout the 2010s, China's domestic production relative to
its consumption fell sharply, to the point that, in 2021,
imports accounted for well over 40% of total consumption. In
2021, Chinese demand for liquefied natural gas ( LNG) rose a
staggering 19% as the structural shift towards gas was
reinforced by the post-pandemic economic recovery. During 2021,
China replaced Japan as the world's largest importer of LNG ,
although imports from Beijing also increased through the
Siberian Force gas pipeline. For other gas-importing countries
in Asia and Europe, this represented a huge energy shock of a
magnitude more than comparable to previous oil crises.

January 2020. However, the key fact of Beijing's energy strategy
is its willingness to ensure the diversification of supply
sources. Gas is no exception. When Putin and Xi Jinping met in
Beijing just before the invasion of Ukraine, they agreed that
China would import an additional 10 billion cubic meters via
pipelines.5. Outside of this agreement, Chinese energy companies
signed a series of purchase and sale agreements with American
LNG companies , including two large long-term agreements and one
       medium-term agreement with Global LNG.

The October 2021 agreements ended a period in which relations
between the United States and China weakened, first due to the
2018-2019 trade war and then due to the pandemic. Seen in a
broader context, this fact, together with the coordination of
the release of oil reserves, suggested a certain complementarity
in the energy interests of the United States and China, although
other more antagonistic dynamics continued to exist. However,
the entry into the LNG marketsof Europe's largest economy and
largest gas consumer, induced by war, could again destabilize
the energy relationship between Washington and Beijing.
