       Provocated but not intimidated

       Matt,
well done on defending Biffy Clyro cover
       www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/11982464
It is always percieved as “cool” for rock bands to cover pop
artists and not the other way around (not that I would label you
       as "pop").
Biffy also covered "Umbrella" and..."Fight for this love", of
all songs! Matt performed a heartfelt version of Many of Horror
and he was brave to cover it. Clear there was going to be
uproar...When Matt performs that song acoustic - and not wearing
a suit - Biffy's fans will fall for him and even download it.
       What is your view guys?

I have been sad to read some of the comments coming from Biffy's
band and his fans. Generally they have not been at all
complimentary of Matts cover. I would have thought Biffy and co
would have been flattered that this song was selected for/by
Matt, his popularity was obvious from very early in the contest.
I'm not sure how things work or the legalities but I would have
thought Biffy would have been consulted, especially as the title
       of the song was 'doctored'
It has given Biffy a lot of exposure (I hadn't even heard of him
before) so why are they moaning? Is it all a publicity stunt for
       them?
I also detect sour grapes, from some quarters, as it would
appear Matt is heading for number 1 in the charts.

Biffy Clyro would have had to have given permission, and they
did. They are now coining it on the back of Matt's popularity.
Their versions has re-emerged, their album has re-charted and
they will be the writers of the Xmas no. 1. They will be
laughing all the way to the bank, so all their fans should be
       pleased for them.
It is hard to make money in music so I totally understand what
Biffy did after 15 years of slogging around. Good luck to them.
The irony is that many of the Seven Summers songs are even
better than the Biffy song and he would have been better to do
one of his own songs. Listen to Darwyn's Violet, which he wrote,
       the chorus is just beautiful.
Lots of people have now heard of Biffy, before they were just
some obscure Scottish band. Matt has shown respect to their song
and done it justice and always spoken about it respectfully in
       public.
