Joey gives the man a short nod and pockets Jessika's notes. His
body language suggests an irritability left over from the
situation surrounding his confrontation with Jessika, but he
seems to be trying to shake it off.
[sub](Aura reading:The outermost color is a light blue that is
slowly seeping into and overcoming a pulsating purple that
consumes him. There is a subtle shifting in intensities of these
colors after his ears picked up their conversation. The purple
fades into a dull silver closer to the core, where flecks of
deep red and deep green flicker with a warm blue.[/sub]
He begins mixing the requested drink and subtly watches the
patron at the bar. "So, forgive me for listening in, but what
were you discussing? Where were you expecting to run into
werewolves", he asks, adding a sarcastic emphasis to the last
word to suggest that he was joking around. Joey watches the
gentleman's body language for signs of alarm or aggression.

With a small chuckle, and no sign of agitation, Stephen responds
with a smile “No apologies needed, My friends and I are never
really the quiet type.” Stephen takes a drink “I won’t be
running into a werewolf anytime soon... I don’t think.” He
knocks twice on the countertop. “My friend though, will in a few
days time, but I have faith that he will be just fine. He has
stockpiled enough silver to make a Japanese Mech suit feel
naked, so I feel bad for the shapeshifter.”
Stephen takes another drink.
“He is young and eager for adventure, like most of us were at
some point.” Stephen says with an almost unperceivable wink.
“What about yourself? How do you fancy adventure?”

Joey raises his eyebrow at the mention of the 'Japanese Mech
Suit' and the colors in his aura fluctuate in intensity again,
but he says nothing. His eyes narrow slightly at the odd comment
"like most of us were" because unlike his companion, Joey
appears to be barely past 22. But again, he says nothing.
Meanwhile the light blue is seeping further into his outer aura.
"Adventurous...huh", Joey slips briefly into his mind causing
sharp flickers of red, yellow, brown, violet, blue and silver
within the light blue that has almost completely overcome the
pulsating purple of his outer aura. "I used to be, before..." A
hot red and crimson wave speckled with black flared in his aura
consuming everything. Joey's fist clamped onto the wooden edge
of the bar it had been previously resting on, and he took a deep
breath and slowly released it, forcing the crimson back behind a
wall of blue and light blue. "Sorry", he mutters a hint of his
subtle Russian accent (OOC: which I can't write to save my life,
so input the subtle accent yourself) coming through, "I spent
some time in the war...I lost a lot. I'm here trying to get my
head on straight."
Once the blues have successfully contained the rage, Joey lets
go of the wood revealing indentations left by his hand. Upon
noticing this, spikes of red pop in the aura briefly and he
quietly curses himself in Russian.

"война
сосет...." Stephen says calmly in
the appropriate accent, not breaking his gaze from Joey.
"...it leaves scars that run deep."Stephens tone is somber for
the first time tonight, his smile gone, but his good will not.
"You seem to have a great deal of self control. I could
reasonably see that part of the bar broken if you did not
restrain yourself." looks down at the impression in the wood.
"I did not mean to bring up your past, but since I did, may I
ask which war you were in? the first or second?" he asks with a
kind expression, overtly hinting at the discrepancy between his
age, his accent, and the military pursuits in history, not to
mention the overall paleness of his aura.

"Heh", Joey releases an humorless laugh, "I was wondering about
that when you mentioned the wolves." His tone is quiet and
steady as he struggles to maintain his calm, which is reflected
in the sporadic flickering of little spikes of crimson in his
aura.
He briefly focuses on the deep breathing exercises Jessika had
been teaching him the over past month, resulting in a gentle
glow of blue slowly consuming the spikes and melting them away
into the light blue. After a deep breath, Joey continued, "It
was the the second that I fought in, but I was referring to a
personal battle." He closes his eyes for a second and sees his
brother's face briefly, causing a wave of silver to shudder
through his aura.

He opens his eyes, which flicker with a deep sorrow behind
them, "I lost my brother."

"I am very sorry for your loss." Stephen speaks quietly but
still does not let down his gaze.
"family is a precious thing. In this ... Life.... we have to
safe guard those we have."
after a few moments where the only sounds are the clinks of
drinks on the bar, Stephen says "I am fairly new in town with my
own family, we don't mingle often with those of kindred spirit.
we usually find them.... well pretty horrible in their own ways.
But you seem good-hearted, at least compared to the majority of
the folk we meet."
tossing back the last of the drink, "can I grab another?"
as joey goes to fill it, "And a name if you don't mind handing
it out as well?"

Joey shrugs, "I'm not sure that good-hearted is really an
appropriate term, but I'm not the biggest ass-hole out there, so
sure." He laughs at his own remark. "You can call me Joey", he
adds as he starts mixing up another.

"All terms are relative, its in their nature." he retorts with a
grin, "a little fairy recently taught me that."
"point is you don't strike me as someone who harmfully uses
people to pursue their goals, like a blue blood or republican
(wink). and thats as "good" as I think I can get in this town."
Stephen takes a few drinks.
"So what do you do with your nights off?"

The little spikes have all but faded away by now, and Joey is
pretty calm as he mixes up the drink orders as they come in. He
smiles, "Oh, not much. I live a bit out of town, so I usually
hang around there working on my bike and such. Few times a week
I come up here before the bar opens and the owner and I jam for
a bit. She and coming to work are really the only reasons I come
into town. Occasionally, I'll come in for a music festival, but
otherwise I stay in Metairie. Like I said, I'm trying to lay low
and get my head on straight."

"lie low? is there a lot to hide from around here?" he says with
a smile and a raised brow.
"Or just the feelings of being out of the politics?"
