He looks the female that just sat down on the stool next him up
and down not hiding the fact that he is checking her out.
" Yes I am new. I just flew in from New York. So sing for me
huh....well that is only if i get a private show my dear. If you
do not mind me asking just what do mean by check on unsavory
types? Are you a private investigator?"

Jessika's eyes harden and her voice sharpens as she addresses
the man before her, "I don't see how dat is any of your
business."
The dark haired woman next to him touches his shoulder to
redirect his attention to her, and he can see her outfit more
clearly now. A fitted black t-shirt with a vaguely familiar band
logo playing across her breasts, paired with fitted, dark,
designer jeans and a studded, black leather belt with matching
pumps. Her lightly glossed lips curl into a seductive smile,
"What she means to say is that it is a private matter. Please,
forgive Jessika, monsieur. Her manners are somewhat...lacking",
she adds with a hand gesture, "at least when it comes to people
she has no investment in."

"Hey hey no need to be touchy I was just curious is all. If you
do not want to tell me that's fine."
He turns to the woman who touched his shoulder.
"Its ok good looking everyone has their secrets. And who might
you be my dear? I do have a regular name......but I prefer to go
by Pride. Yes as in one of the seven deadly sins. You seem to be
more of the adventurous type. Any places of interest I should
know about? I just flew in from New York and I am going to be
here in New Orleans for awhile."

The woman cocks her eyebrow at his mentioning of his 'name', and
half-smiled as if she agreed that it suited him.
"I seem adventurous, do I? Hmm", she mused, "Maybe I am. As for
interesting places, New Orleans is one of the more interesting
places I have resided in during my many years of walking this
planet. It really just depends on what you consider
'interesting', monsieur. The musicians and performers here are
second to none, the art on Royal is as diverse and splendid as
the stars in the sky, and the people are an endless fascination.
On the other hand, there are far greater pleasures that
exploring the mazes of the cemeteries under a moon lit night.
Or, if you are more so inclined to the less subtle things in
life, Bourbon and Canal are always a nocturnal life vein of the
city. Adventure is, of course as with so many other things, in
the eye of the beholder."
A plump, creole woman wearing a violet dress one size too small
and a burly, black man in a black suit make their way up the the
bar and sit a few chairs down. Jessika excuses herself, and
makes her way down to them with a friendly grin planted onto her
face like a second mask.
The dark haired woman at Pride's side tucks a loose curl behind
her ear, as she watches Jessika walk off, "So, it really does
depend on what you are looking for. Sadly, you missed the Mardi
Gras season, with it's parades and masquerades, but every few
weeks there is a new music festival somewhere in the city."
"Oh", she quickly turned to face Pride, "and you can call me
Sarah."

"Well Sarah the pleasure is all yours"
Smiles and snaps his fingers.
"Darn I missed Mardi Gras. I here its .......for lack for a
better word ......crazy. I personal have never been. I have only
heard what its like from friends and other people that have
been. I will differently have to check it out. Next I will have
to make planes to go. Well my dear if you had to pick a favorite
place what would it be? Hold that thought my dear."
He turns his head to the bar tender.
" Hey good looking how is the drink coming...you know the red
one with the vodka in it?
He turns his head back to Sarah.
"So your favorite place? Also you said your not from here. Just
where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Jessika nods in acknowledgement, and finishes up the creole
lady's double-shot appletini. As the couple walk back to their
table, she deposits their tip, and informs Pride that it he can
choose between the full drink, which she mentions is called a
"Very Bloody Mary", or the shot version, which he has already
sampled.
Sarah requests another Very Bloody Mary, and orders one for
Absinthe before turning back to Pride. "Not at all, but I cannot
guarantee you will be satisfied by my answer", she mentions with
a short laugh, "You see, I was born in a village that lays in
ruins, in a province long since has been ravaged by war, in a
country that frankly no longer exists. But to make my answer a
bit clearer", she added with a smirk, "I am from Western Europe,
but I think you could have guessed that by my accent."
The room, which has increased in population by now, erupts into
applause as the band wraps up their most recent set list. As the
noise dies down a little, Sarah continues the conversation. "You
wanted to know my favorite place in New Orleans", she states in
a serious tone. She briefly studies the red drops staining the
frosted surface of her empty glass as she sorts through her
favorite havens within New Orleans. "I would have to say the
Saint Louis Cathedral", she explains after a pause, "..it has
always moved me to the point of tears."
At this time, Jessika comes over to deliver the two Very Bloody
Marys to the ladies. "Sorry about dat. Pride, have you decided
which you vould like", she asks pleasantly with raised brows,
"The glass or the shot?"

He pretends to look shocked.
"Western Europe and here I was thinking you were from Australia.
Make it a glass please."
He motions Sarah to come close to that no one else can here
them.
" So my dear you look like to be a....how can I put this.
........cold natured person if you know what I mean good
looking. So just how did you get your ......cold nature my dear.
"
He smiles and looks at here waiting for her answer.

Jessika nods and begins mixing up another glass, but watches
Sarah for any sign that she wants the Nos to jump into the
private conversation.
Sarah smiles and leans in as if about to divulge a big, dark,
juicy secret. She licks her lower lip, "That's for me to know,
and you to probably never find out." She then leans her head
back in a hearty laugh, a position that just subtly reveals the
tips of her canines over her full lips. She then straights in
her chair, and calls over to Absinthe, "Ma belle chérie, what is
my silly fils busying himself with tonight? Will he have time to
see me?"

"You know Dev always welcomes a visit for you, Mamma Bear. And
you HAVE to come to my gig tonight. I've prepared a couple new
pieces, and Dev's decided that I need to learn how to 'control'
myself, so he's stopped trying to keep the....individuals down."
She looked rather worried for a moment, as if genuinely
terrified of a thought. But the glance was fleeting, and she
attempted to fill the silence, as per usual.
"Besides, Dev's said i'm not much of company, and he gets bored
with me. I've half a mind to....Oh well." She threw back another
shot, frustrated, and looked toward Jessika. "Have you stopped
into the club lately, Mz. Jessika? I've been dying to do a duet
with you, if you'll permit me."

Jessika slides the glass to Pride nonchalantly, her full
attention on Absinthe. "I tagged along with Sarah last veek,
but couldn't stay long. Joey called in, somet'ing about a broken
arm not quite healed", she adds as she scans the room,
"othervise I would come vatch you with Sarah this evening."
Jessika looks back at Absinthe and smiles warmly, "However, dat
reckless Rabbler should be all healed up tomorrow, so I should
be able to come vatch you den. As for scheduling a duet, I vould
be honored to accompany a talent such as yourself, my dear. Just
name de day, and I vill be der."
