Bittere Realität Rhythm and Blues

Near the corner of Bourbon and St. Philip there is a narrow
alleyway with a small, black sign hanging above it that
reads"Bittere Realität" in archaic, white lettering. If it
weren't for the haunting bluesy music echoing down the corridor,
one might easily overlook the establishment. The corridor itself
is a narrow passageway that leads you through fifteen feet of
near darkness, away from the drunkards and loud bustle of
Bourbon St., and into the dark, soulful melodies of the R&B
club. The only outside light comes from the red glow of the neon
sign that lights up the small courtyard outside the club
entrance. A cast iron table and chairs bask in the glow of the
sign, as they sit abandoned on the brick flooring. There are two
doors that open onto the courtyard, the one directly in front of
the alleyway is the club entrance, while the other is locked
behind an iron gate and leads to a a brick building presumably
belonging to the owner.
The heavy wooden door of the main entrance opens onto a small
landing that overlooks the club, and a spiral staircase down.
From the landing, you can see the layout fairly well. The
rounded stage is located in the far corner opposite to the
entrance, the bar reflects the repeating curves as it fills the
wall to the left of the landing, and a collection of tables and
booths encircle the small dance floor at the center of the room.
The space is decorated in dark reds, blues, and violets with
details of dark wood and gold, which glows in the dim lighting.
The night is still young, so the club is only about a third
full, but the band is in full swing and filling the space with
the echoes of a broken heart.
Behind the bar, a short, Germanic woman with a high, golden
ponytail mixes up a Bloody Mary for the attractive woman across
from her. The bartender smiles wickedly as she hands her the
drink, and says something that makes the raven haired woman
laugh enchantingly. Waitstaff move about, skillfully removing
empty glasses from tables, silently replacing them where needed,
and taking the occasional order. The staff all seem to be
dressed in black and white variations on 1940's or 1950's style
garb, which compliments the overall theme of the club. The
exception being the bartender, who is dressed in a revealing
crimson blouse, black pencil skirt, and leopard print pumps.
The woman across from her takes a long drink from her glass,
then catches a glimpse of something in the expansive mirror
behind the bar. Straightening up, she tosses the dark mass of
curls over her shoulder, and mummers something to the bartender
who glances over to the stairs, before continuing her previous
conversation.

A man walks into the Bittere Realität. He has one pair tight
jeans, white silk button down shirt, pair of nice black dress
shoes, sliver rings on the index and middle fingers of both his
hands.
He walks around the club with a smile on his face greeting
people and just making small chat. As he walks around people are
just drawn to him, almost as if he had a supernatural charisma
about him. He goes over to two women that are sitting at a
table. He sits at the table for about 15 minutes. Before he gets
up he gives them both a kiss on the cheek and what can be seen
are cell phones being taken out.
When it puts his away he walks over the bar and takes a seat. He
looks at the shirt woman with the ponytail. " So what do you
recommend for someone how just got off a long flight?" He looks
over at another woman and smiles and winks at her and then back
to the woman he was previously talking to.

The blond smirks, "A hot shower und a goot night sleep." The
dark haired beauty to his right snickers quietly into her glass
as the bartender continues as she leans forward supporting
herself on the bar with spread arms, "But vile you're here, I
recommend somethin' strong. Vat's your poison?"

"well my dear hot showering taken care of. As for the good night
sleep... well I slept on the plane ride here so I am wide awake.
Normally I do not do poison....but give me a favorite oh yours
doesn't matter what it is. Surprise me I like surprises"
As she makes the drink he looks over his shoulder scanning the
bar for anything of interest.
With his head over his shoulder still he says with a playful and
teasing tone in his voice. " So I figured this place would be
more alive for a ( insert day here) Hm guess I was wrong.
He turns his head that he is facing her as she makes the drink.
" So how is that drink coming?"

The woman slides a frosted shot glass filled with a dark blue
haze to rest in front of him, "Fat's Svagger", she calls it.
She quickly rinses out her mixing tumbler and watches him eye
the drink. "It's a little slow because ve just opened a few
hours ago, schmart guy. Tings vill pick up in a anoder hour or
so."
"Jessi-cat", purrs the woman next to him. She has finished her
drink and is leaning onto the counter with her hand propping up
her ivory chin, "Don't you know that you can catch more flies
with honey than vinegar", she teased, with a subtle accent to
her voice.
"Jah", Jessika admitted with a shrug of her boney shoulder, "but
who said I vanted to catch flies, sveethart? Dat's your job."
Then she added with a laugh, "I just stand here an' look
pretty."
She pulled out a tarnished, 1950s metal flask from under the
counter and took a quick swig. She glanced at the dandy in front
of her, "You gonna drink dat or vat, pretty boy?"

He laughs and looks at her. "my dear pretty is an understatement
with me" He picks up the glass and tosses his head back taking
the shot. He sits the glass down on the bar counter. He looks at
the bartender then the empty shot glass then back at her and he
smirks.
" Hm not bad." He points at the glass" go ahead and load
something else up."
As she makes the drink he looks her up and down. " So you just
stand there and look pretty huh? So what else do you have going
for you more then your looks?"

She chuckles, as if to an inside joke, and replies as she chills
the new shot in the tumbler, "Not counting my looks, I 'ave
everyting going for me....Assuming da customer knows how to ask
and vat to ask for." She looks him over, then glances to the
woman across from her, who nods subtly. Jessika drops her voice
a little lower, "But to a cold natured fellow like you", she
glances around to bar to make sure no one is paying attention to
them, "my good looks should be the least of your concerns." For
a split second she drops her mask, and the newcomer catches a
quick glimpse of her scared, deeply creased face grinning
wickedly at him. The silver labret stud under her red lower lip
and the jagged fangs in her smile add to the shock and horror.
Then almost immediately, the mask is replaced, leaving an
attractive, young, Aryan girl in the monster's place.
She slides the new shot to him, this time it is thick and
crimson with a swirling glisten of the purest vodka, and smiles
with a wink, "So vat are you looking for?"

He is taken aback after seeing her true face. After She puts the
mask back on he acts like as if nothing happened.
" you know and don't take this the wrong way, I never see your
group topside if you understand what I mean and not out in the
open like this.
He notices the red liquid in the shot glass. He smirks and
tosses it back. He sits the glass down and points to it wanting
another one.
"As for what I am looking for mmmmm nothing special. I hear New
Orleans is a great spot for night owls. Ok I got to ask I know
this area here " and he waves his hand over his face. " is
....well different, but the accent ........real or fake?

"Totally undeniably real, I'm guessing. Knowing the people that
hang around here, anyway." A rather attractive fem pops down on
the stool next to the male, and waves her hand at the bartender.
"New in town, I'm guessing?" She glances over at him. "Hu. You
sound cute. I'll have to sing for you sometime." She smirks and
takes the shot that is handed to her.
"How's life treating you, Mz. Jessika?" She turns her attentions
toward the Nos. "Sorry I haven't been around as of late. The
Whirling Dervish is under reconstruction, and you know how Dev
can be when it comes to...'perfection'." Her voice lilts as she
raises her hand into quotation marks around her delicate face.
"Anyways-" She shoots the liquid, and without missing a beat,
"Got anybody for me to check into? You know, unsavory types, all
that jazz? Oh, and when's the boss gonna give me my cash for
last month? I gots to pay the rents, ya' know."

Jessika walks over to a cabinet door behind the bar, which opens
to reveal an old leather trench coat hanging inside. Her body
blocks her actions, but she returns shortly with a sealed
envelope, which she hands to Absinthe. "Sorry for the vait, my
dear. You'll find your new conquest inside."
