Lydia smiles at Clark's duckface, before looking down at the
book again thinking about his question.
"In all honesty, I'm not sure... I technically have a fiance
SOMEWHERE in the world. I have no idea as to where he went off
to. My original plan was to search for him, but now...I don't
really want to. I'm content with falling into books and never
coming out!~ Lydia laughs again, feeling the uneasiness she'd
felt earlier wash away.

"reminds me of my teenage years" replies Clark with a one
cornered frown.
after a while Stephen returns looking calm, yet exuding an
almost palpable fear. He nods to the two working but quickly
enters the moving book case upstairs to enter the upper room.
Clark shrugs his shoulders at Lydia.
as the two have escapism dwelling in the back of their minds,
the deciphering of the texts begins to become a reality over the
next few hours.
A theme begins to develop in the books: unification of chaos and
order.
"So in this book I am getting a lot of musings by what seems a
scholar, on the ascension of souls after death. What do you know
about "Aten"?"

Lydia shrugged as well, not too sure as to how to respond to
Stephen's actions.
"Aten, the sun god? Well, I know that he was called the creator
of man and nurturer of the world. They also mention his name in
the book of the dead. There was also some crazy pharaoh, what
was his name... Lydia pauses, sticking her tongue out and
looking up as if the answer were on the ceiling.
"Amenhotep the fourth! That's it! Anyways, he ended up breaking
off and making his own capital, trying to erase other gods.
Obviously, it didn't work, because symbols of other gods, such
as Bes and Tauret were around in his capital...that's about all
I know. You think that this may have something to do with the
book of the dead maybe? Since it talks about ascension after
death and all..."

"Well I seem to be getting a lot angst against Amenhotep in this
book. Clearly the auther did not like what he tried to do. I
have a translated copy of the book of the dead somewhere."
Clark returns a moment later, laying down a thick binder with
loose leaf papers bulging out in protest of being confined to
such a small space.
"Just in case we need it." He says with a smile. "I did not know
he had such a hard time pushing Aten. I have read a little about
that particular political push, do happen to know how it
resolved?."

Lydia's eyes widen when she sees the translation. After a little
nervous chuckle, she proceeds to answer Clark's question.
"It sort of resolved itself after Amenhotep's death, if I'm not
mistaken. People really didn't believe in Atenism and after his
death, his followers did everything they could to erase it. Not
too loyal, if you ask me, but I do see why they'd want to not
have a god shoved in their face and such..."

"that reactions seems to be very common place for people."
"On that note whats your religion of choice?" he asks off
offhandedly.

"Religion? I can't remember the last time I prayed to a god or
something... A part of me wants to believe there is some higher
power, but if there is, he sure knows how to pull the strings to
make things interesting. What about you?"

"No clue what is out there, though I know there is something,
and each day I learn of some fictitious thing being real, so it
is never too far fetched to have something. Personally though I
like the thought forms theory, where the congealed energies,
psychic residue if you will, pools together to form entities
made solely of soul energy. Each god worship by us being a
mental construct, that never truly resembles the greater truth
of an all encompassing life force whose heartbeat is that of all
of creation, and whose voice is the song we all sing."
"Speaking of magnitude, everything becomes less important the
more you "zoom out" and I think that by the time we "zoom out"
enough to be able to conceptualize any "the one god".... we
don't matter any more. not to say we are not important, and have
purpose on the level of magnitude that we exist at though."
"I think the thought of a "one god" that puts more emotional
distance between the worshiper and the worshiped is what may
have led to the disharmony Aten may have caused."
"But seeing, feeling, and working with the energies of the soul,
and those who's existence has already phased from this world, I
have faith that there is some entity on some level that is full
of love for us humans, even if that entity is not the great
supreme being" he says with a wink.
"I just hope its the flying spaghetti monster." he adds more
realistically.

Lydia busts out hysterically at the mention of flying spaghetti
monster. Lydia's smile stays plastered on, even after her
laughter subsides. "I suppose that WOULD be interesting. Flying
spaghetti monster, huh? I'm not too familiar with that entity.
Could you tell me more about it?"

"Well there is a faith, though I think its a small new one,
where the great flying spaghetti god looks down on us from space
and watches over us lovingly. The religious text was written by
the modern prophet Bobby Henderson I think. like most religions,
I think the great vision and lessons that the creator was trying
to instill were masked over by too much emphasis on the delivery
format, aka people took his symbolic wordings, and ideas and
turned them into fact. something I find common throughout all
religions at some point or another."
"One day i think that we will all take the words of spiritually
wise people at their inherent value, and no more. We will one
day stop attempting to ascribe to belief sets made by others
instead of figuring out the big questions of existentialist
issues ourselves. Using not only our family upbringing, cultural
of birth base lines, and power of reason to do so, but we will
flourish as we allow the inherent love we hold for all life
guide our hearts and thoughts as we find our selves and feel
empowered by our own walk with what ever god(s), or no-god we
choose."
after a few moments "I am hungry, I am going to grab some chips,
you want anything?"
