Sarah looks up at him, a kind smile still on her lips, "Neither,
actually." She looks back down at the girl laying with her head
in Sarah's lap, and strokes her hair gently, "I found her on
Bourbon Street the other night after leaving The Whirling
Dervish. She was clinging to a light post whimpering about how
the world was spinning too fast. It was nearing dawn, so I
subdued her and took her home with me until I was able to bring
her here yesterday night." She laughs softly, "I'm really not
even sure what her name is..."

Sparrow nods. "Not a terrible idea, though spending an entire
day in a stranger's house can be terrible to a mind lacking
lucidity. She told me her name was Lucy, though she has no form
of ID on her." Sparrow shrugs. "Still, she signed the agreement,
so I will take care of her."

"You are a good man, Sparrow, this town is certainly lucky to
have you." Sarah looks back down at the resting girl, "Back when
I lived up in Maine I ran a reformation center of sorts of my
own. It was a small town, so there was less drug use issues and
more people who had fallen on bad times or were victims of
abuse." She smiles sweetly at the girl, "Nonetheless, the work
was worth the trials just to see people healing and leaving
stronger."

With an intrigued look, Sparrow says, "It looks like you and I
were cut from a similar cloth. Don't mistake me for a good
person, though. I do what I believe needs to be done. So what
happened? Is your old center under new management?"

Her fingers stop mid-stroke, and her eyes harden. A pained look
filled with anger and a taste of betrayal crosses Sarah's
features, "No..", she finally says after a pause, "Everything I
had worked so hard to build and create was destroyed by the
Lupines." The last word leaves her lips in a way that suggests
the term itself is laced with a bitter poison.

Sparrow sighs. "You know, they may not like our kind, but you'd
think they'd appreciate what we try to do. Troublesome bunch.
Sorry to hear your facility was compromised, but it didn't
reverse the accomplishments you've already made, I'm sure."
Lucy's head tilts upwards. "...lupines?"
Sparrow replies quickly, "They're a problematic gang that makes
problems for others. Some sort of riteous calling or something.
Never you mind, dear."

Sarah mentally chides herself for the slip-up, "Yes, dear, they
are a terrible pack of brutes." She turns back to Sparrow, "As
for the area, I am sad to say it did not. I disappeared shortly
after the explosion since they assumed I had died in the
fire..it was just safer that way. Well, during the five year gap
I was away the town's population skyrocketed, and my area was
corrupted completely. I barely recognized it."

Sparrow nods with a bleak look on his face. "One thing you
haven't lost, in that case, is the experience you've gained. I
must say, I am rather intrigued by you. What do you do now?
You've evidently decided to spend your time on the other end of
the east coast. Something must have brought you here."

She nods with a small smile, "My son brought me here most
recently, although I have always adored this city." Sarah's
nimble fingers absentmindedly play with Lucy's hair, "As for
myself, I am trying to take it easy. When I am not spending time
with my own family, I volunteer up at the hospitals for a few
hours daily. I've always liked taking care of people and helping
them heal, so it fits."

Sparrows eyes widen. "Either you're a really good person, or you
try really hard to look like one. Either way, I admire your
dedication."
