I was worried as well, but WVU kind of seems like a more
talented, bigger version of SFA themselves. One of those
"anything you can do we can do better" type matchups even though
I think SFA's coach is brilliant.

Huggins? Trust? not me.... but it still is difficult to
see SFA winning....

Fun fact for everyone that strikes me as simply
bizarre...Tuesday night First Four at-large winners are 0-5 in
the first round, while Wednesday night winners are 5-0. Can
Michigan keep that streak rolling/can Wichita break what seems
like a pretty unsustainable streak on their end?

Pretty important thing I only realized right before I fell
asleep last night - the numbers on Notre Dame are screwed up and
haven't been updated to include the last two games. They average
~75 a game, not 71, so they do not qualify to be upset per the
Seed Guide...which was the only place I could find that
recommended an upset. Michigan doesn't qualify to upset them,
either. As a part-time Michigan fan I'm still rolling with it as
my only subjective pick, but you might want to change this.

Some notes on the four games from this region today...
Indiana v. Chattanooga: Chattanooga would've been the easiest 12
upset pick in the field had they played Maryland, but oh well.
Two huge things play in UTC's factor - Indiana bleeds the ball
(UTC in 85th percentile of forcing TOs; IND 20th in preventing
them) and Indiana doesn't go to the line (25th percentile
nationally in FT Rate). But: the only other team they've faced
that was 90th percentile or better in eFG% was Iowa State...who
they lost to 83-63. Just can't see this one happening, but UTC
will keep it close.
UNC v. FGCU: FGCU is the best 16 seed, but that doesn't mean
much when they received the worst 1 seed matchup possible for
them. UNC could run up a rebound margin of 20+.
Kentucky v. Stony Brook: Stony Brook is 22-2 over their last 24
but this is a terrible matchup for them in many ways - Jameel
Warney is the only good player on SB's team and UK is rounding
into shape at the perfect time...does this UK team remind anyone
else of the 2011 version that needed a last-second bucket to
beat Princeton but went on to upset tournament favorite Ohio
State in the Sweet Sixteen?
USC v. Providence: Might be the most intriguing game on the
schedule today. Not sure why Providence can't get over the hump
(though I thought they were badly coached down the stretch of
the Villanova game in the BE Tourney), but USC appears to have
mailed it in for the final ten games of the season. Zero clue
which version of which team shows up. I went with USC as
athletically (and talent-wise) this should be a 5-8 point win
for them, but motivation counts for quite a bit here. Likely
will go down to the last possession.

I have thought about SFA over West Virginia, but chose to waive
it because West Virginia has a positive turnover margin. While
West Virginia is not going to force many turnovers, they can
still pound the glass. And that USC vs. Providence game was
idiotic. USC reminds me of 10 seed Arizona State when they faced
7 seed Texas back in 2014. You are up only by one, three seconds
left, what is the logical defensive strategy? Defend the paint
of course (90% chance your opponent will inbound close to the
basket). They left that guy wide open, amazing. Why no respect
for the PAC-12? Simple: dumb play! Let's not even start with
Arizona!

Total tossup, Wisconsin the better team but both faded down the
stretch and Wisconsin is very thin depth-wise. Pitt has a better
chance to do damage in the second round, but I picked Wisconsin.
