       Manson, Hermeticism & Gnosticism
By: CŵnAnnwn Date: April 18, 2022, 8:34 pm

As of late, I have been digging into the Philosophy & Principles
of Hermeticism and by extension some Gnosticism. Charlie clearly
was his own form of Gnostic Christian, and of course he was an
Avatar of Abraxas, but was he concerned with any of the
principles of Hermitic philosophy or the view of the earth being
       created by the Demiurge Yahweh?
I feel that Charlie kind of constructed his own Spiritualism
from different systems of thought that shared or hold some of
the same essential metaphysical ideas. And I think most of us
can agree that he was a natural Mystic.

Excellent topic - thanks. I'm always learning and would like to
hear more on this topic. The concept of Abraxas came to me via
CM, and I have a lot of catching up to do.
"Natural Mystic" makes me immediately think of the Marley song.

To be honest, I forgot that Bob Marley had a song called that.
Charlie clearly had a deep understanding of self and many
universal Spiritual truths that come along with that.
I would be interested to know if Charlie meditated in any
traditional way, and if so, how.

I would be interested too, but don't recall a direct reference
       to a traditional mediation practice.
Many references to buddhist and zen thought, which is
       intertwined with mediation.
CM's incarcerated recordings are very meditative. There is a
connected and improvisational flow to the thought and language
that is outside normal day to day thinking. Thoughts come and
go. The performer and listener are projected in to spaces
outside of their immediate physical reality.
That isn't traditional sitting meditation, but it is somewhat
       shamanist and feels meditative.
I don't have any real knowledge of the Gnostics that I could
weigh in on the connection, but it feels like there is one, even
if it is just as part of a continuum.

I would also like to hear/learn more on this topic. I've always
been interested in mysticism and spiritualism of all types.
