“Cease To Exist: The Saga of Dennis Wilson & Charles Manson”
This is an excellent compilation of quotes from just about
anybody relevant you can think of, put together by Beach Boys
forum member Jason Austin Penick. Highly recommended read.

Thanks very much - I've never seen this. I wish that the
Stebbins 2000 book was still in print - it was OOP by the time I
knew about it.

That’s a great (and sad) book. I know Jon was planning an
updated version of the book at one point, but I’m not sure
whatever came of it. He’s probably my favorite of all the many
Beach Boys authors. I appreciate that he always tries to find
the truth and doesn’t just fall back on the same old BB myths
that get reported ad nauseum.

Did Stebbins delve any deeper into the DW and CM connection in
Real Beach Boy, than he did in Dumb Angel? I thought Dumb Angel
didn't bring anything new in that chapter about it.

I understand why the BB Brand keeps it's distance from the
topic, but it seems very important to DW's story and perhaps
downfall.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve read it, but if memory
serves there’s at least a couple chapters dedicated to their
relationship. I’ll take a look a little later. I honestly
wouldn’t be surprised if that whole aspect of DW’s life was
something that Jon would want to update in a revised edition of
the book so that he could paint as complete a picture as is
possible.

I am obsessed with Dennis’ music- he made the most masculine
songs about crying ever. I am constantly in danger of wearing
out Pacific Ocean Blue so I finally put together a playlist of
BB songs where he is credited as the primary writer (he always
had collaborators, of course).

Very nice - thanks for sharing. I'm a big DW fan and I think his
music gets better with time. I've been listening to his solo
songs a lot lately too.
