Hello All!

My journey here started New Year’s weekend 2020. That was when I
watched ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ for the first time.
Prior, I was born in August of ‘72. Obviously, I was not around
when the murders happened , but I was always drawn to learning
about them. Watching ‘Fatal Vision’ as a kid started my interest
in true crime. Jeffrey MacDonald’s defense was that hippies
broke into his home, similar to the Manson family. In the movie,
the lady with the floppy hat creeped me out. From that I was
curious about cases from the 60’s and 70’s. From there I started
to learn a little here and there about Charles Manson. I
remember the Geraldo interview and when other news outlets would
focus on the murders on every anniversary. I always kept it at a
distance. I felt bad for this extremely beautiful woman that was
murdered in here own home. I could care less about Manson and
his scum bag family.
Back to January 2020, seeing Tarantino’s movie did something to
me. I fell in love with that world he created and wanted more.
Pandemic hit, and I was furloughed for 10 weeks. I binged
watched shows, like everyone else, and found new time to read.
I read ‘Helter Skelter’, then Greg King’s book about Sharon,
and also the book her niece wrote, can’t remember the title. I
even watched that horrible ‘Haunting of Sharon Tate’ movie.
Although, I did like the Purgatory angle it was going for, but
poorly executed, and the opening sequence was chilling. Then I
dove into podcasts. I binged anything about the case, discovered
Scott Michaels, Tom O’Neill, Michael Channels, and Marlin
Marynick who led me to Nikolas Schreck. I bought the official
narrative in the beginning, but after absorbing the details of
the case for the last two years, common sense prevailed and I am
a true believer that it was not some random act, it was a drug
deal gone bad. I am also big on the zodiac killer and try to
absorb anything I can about that case.
I appreciate this forum and thank you for including me.

Interesting entry point. I'm a big fan of all of Tarantino's
films. OUATIH seems to get a lot if criticism in these circles.
I look at the film as pure fantasy and film for film's sake.
Kind of a fun aside to the actual case and high-end fan fiction.

I enjoyed the nostalgia. I watched all of those cheesy western
shows, I love the cars, the style, the music. His recreation of
1969 L.A. was incredible.
