What is grit? Grit is courage and determination despite
difficulty, strength, fortitude, it means not giving up when
things get complicated. Some people appear to be born with grit
in their blood. It Appears to be a trait that the only the
chosen possess. For the rest of us who were not born with grit
in their blood can not only develop in any brain, however will
       also grow.
In the first video, “Grit: the power of passion and
perseverance” by Angela Lee Duckworth talked about how IQ was
not the only thing separating the successful students from those
who struggled in class. Grit and determination matter more than
any other quality for success. IQ is overrated compared to
       determination and hard work.
In the article, “What’s missing when we talk about
grit” by Luke Reynolds shares an experience he had with one of
his students. This student for the longest time could not
concentrate nor understand neither of his class. He was deeply
concerned about why his student was not focus on his classes.
Luke decided to do something more interesting with his student
which developed a bond between them, this gave the student an
initiative to do better in class. The article concentrates more
in relationships between teachers and students.
I agree more with the article “What’s missing when we
talk about grit” by Luke Reynolds because I think it works
better rather than just hard work. This way we have a purpose
which is to make proud our teacher as if they were our parents.

Loida Mota, you have good grammar. I agree with you, I also
choose the article. Your answer is long but it’s not
       overwhelming. Really good explanation

Grit is the term used to explain the reason of why people
persevere. This term explains that with passion and effort
people can achieve and excel their objectives in life. In the
video “Grit: The Power Of Passion And Perseverance | Angela Lee
Duckworth” she relate us that she worked as a seventh graders
math teacher. One day she started asking herself what was the
difference between the kids that pass her class and the ones
that did not. With different psychological experiments she found
out that the people that achieve their goals have grit as a
personality trait. Furthermore the ones that have a growth
mindset which is learning from adversities and keep showing
       effort.
Then we have the other perspective of grid. Which is found in
the article “ What’s Missing When We Talk About Grit” by Luke
Reynolds. He explain to us that he was middle school teacher
that was always looking for a way to keep his students motivated
to move forward. He said that he tried every psychological term
to let kids understand the importance of determination to
success, but he failed. However one day he made a comment about
Ghostbusters and that was the day that a particular student
changed his perspective about his teacher. The relationship of
student to teacher became a lot better. As well the grades and
participation of the kid. Luke Reynolds finally founded the way
to get the attention of his students and it was by making a
friendly connection with them because there are cases where kids
are too shy to express their opinions. Some of them are not
going to do it until they feel the confidence of doing it.
This is the reason why I personally prefer Luke Reynold’s way
of learning. I think that what a kid needs is affection and
encouragement of their parents and teachers because they usually
do not like to hear long explications of fancy terms that they
do not understand. With this support in the background I think
that It would be easier for them to understand grit and actually
apply it. This is the reason why parents behavior is strongly
connected with the way that kids show themselves to the world.

I replied to Joely: I completely agree with her. I really liked
the way she presented her ideas. I think she really articulated
her answer. She also showed a lot of insight.
