       Obligatory 2016 Politics Thread
By: HematoLogMeIn Date: July 27, 2016, 10:37 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
So how 'bout that election coming up in the States, or that
       thing they call Brexit?
I noticed that this section of the forum said in the description
that politics discussion was a thing to be done here, so I'm
surprised it hasn't come up yet.
For those of you living in the states, by the way, there's a
site called ontheissues.org, if you would like to look at
individual candidates' platforms and decide who to vote for (or
against, or not, however you wanna look at it) this November.
As a United Statesian (as much as it pains me to be given this
sh--pot we're stirring right about now), I have to say that this
is a difficult position to be in, politics wise. Here we have
the two most disliked candidates in history, and everyone
shouting "BUT DO YOU WANT THE OTHER GUY TO WIN" with all sorts
of exaggerations and such blown into the air like fireworks on
the Forth of July. Meanwhile I'll just be over here, having the
short end of the stick at being thrown into the workforce
directly after the aftermath of whoever gets shoved into the
       White House.
I'm honestly not too scared though, because I understand what
the president can and can't do, and what role the House and
Senate and Supreme Court play (because I payed attention in
       Civics class).
What about you all? Any particular questions/commentary on the
political spectrum? And please feel free to bring this outside
the US; I'd love to hear more about international issues as
well. My media tends to fail me in understanding what's going on
in the rest of the world.

I thought Bernie Sanders was our savior! Hehehe dramatic i know.
then he went and switched to Hillary. But then I kept thinking
"As long as he's VP. As long as he's VP. Please let him be VP!"
And then I found out he's not going to be VP. And now I don't
know who to vote for. It's been so stressful and there's always
something new with Hillary and trump.

I feel you. My vote for the primaries was with Sanders, as it
was with a lot of my friends, actually. One of my friends has
already gone and said screw it, she's writing in for Etrigan the
       Demon, because she's half-convinced that that's Donald Trump's
secret identity and points to that one run of the comics where
he ran for president as her proof. That hair probably could be
       hiding those horns, who knows?

I am very familiar with that comic and thanks to justice League
cartoon, I got the reference! Some believe the apocalypse is
       coming.

Hunger still being an issue, religious warfare, mosquito-borne
diseases and other epidemic scares, political and social
structure tensions...But, then again, that's pretty much all of
human history in a nutshell. People are always thinking the end
is nigh. Maybe it's because human life is so fragile, and it's
hard for us to see beyond our own lifetime?
Also wow my text is extremely hard to read when quoted. I should
consider changing colors...or just dropping the scheme. Kinda
ruins the pun in my username though.

I liked Bernie better than the other options. Sadly he didn't
have the looks to be prom king.

I don't think it was so much Prom King looks, but rather that a
portion of people were just all "Ermergerd, sercerlerst."

I've never followed government. I knew trump and Clinton would
make it to the last. I didn't want it but you can tell those two
       would make it.
Honestly don't know what I'll do once they ruin the country.

America doesn't think. Therefore if they only feel, prom is all
       they are voting for.
Lets shave all their heads and see who wins.
       Vermin Supreme 2016!

[/quote]Clinton announced her candidacy when she ran for senate.
       State dept was just frosting.
Dem party is sick and corrupt. Superdelegates ensure that dems
never get who they want, just who the corporations want.
Trump was a pro wrasslin coach trying to run for pres.. Turns
out enough of America believes in pro wrasslin that it works for
       him.
No matter who gets picked by the Corps Jon Stewart's fault. He
and Colbert could announce their candidacy tomorrow and easily
win. They boned us for money.

Fair assessment to be honest. Silly me, voting based on things
like the party platform and individual candidates stances on
       critical issues.
